Trey Lance QB NDSU

What if we trade down with our buddy Mayhew.

They get pick 12, we get pick 19, their 3rd, and their 3rd next draft.

It's a possibility.

I'd want more, and it would absolutely depend who was on the board. Due to this being in the Lance thread I assume you want to do this to get Lance for cheaper.

That's a huge risk IMO, you then need the WFT & Pats to pass (possible) and you're inviting the Bears or even Saints to look to jump you. If you'd take him at 19, you should be happy to take him at 12.

I'm assuming WFT would be moving up for Lance.

Just heard on Moving the Chains (SiriusXM) with Pat Kirwin and Jim Miller and they were talking with Phil Simms about this QB class. Phil said he hasn't watch a lot of film but said Trey Lance was a 3rd rounder and Pat kind of agreed. Said it would be 2 years before a team would reap any benefits from him.

He said he is big and strong but didn't see a lot of great QB throws especially in tight windows. Admitted he's only watched 1 full game from 2019 and said his opinion may change when he watches more film.

just thought I'd share.

Absolutely laughable, how you can even comment on a 1 game sample size is ridiculous, why even throw out what round you think he should go in?

The team drafting Lance will need to be patient, but if you can coach, and he busts it says more about you than him IMO.

Maybe but I've seen a number of scouting reports questioning if he can fit the ball into tight windows consistently. His sample size is so small (18 games) playing against non FBS schools i think scares a lot of people. The round 3 grade is suspect but i'm sure a lot of people have a low round 1 or 2 grade on him which for QBs translates to a top 10 pick.

yeah and we would take Mac at 19.
It's practically impossible to predict what'll happen...the 1st rd has proven to be very fluid in past drafts & no reason to believe that won't be the case in this one. I'd say Lynch might entertain a trade down...but likely not that many spots and would have to get the right picks to make the deal. That said, we really have no idea what they think of Lance, either. Their draft board is top secret and they won't divulge who they favor and who they don't. It's really anyone's guess who they'll take at #12. I wouldn't be surprised at all if they took Lance, TE Pitts, OL Slater, a top WR or Edge. It's one of the things that make the draft so compelling...and Lynch has shown an unpredictability that keeps everyone guessing.

I'm guessing he's a 50 something yr old who doesn't like all the memes/gifs, which is fine. No need to be like that though.

As far as coming off as a "easterner" or whatever. Yeah clearly lol.

That's where I'm from & who I am and if that bothers ya....

(just having some fun Bellaleo, like I said it's all good)

All good indeed boys. Bring it on. Lol no I'm not in my 50's not even close. Haha

Hahaha, I got it. Truthfully, I haven't "studied" Stokes. I rewatched Kyle Trask light up Georgia the other day, so I wasn't really impressed with anyone in their secondary. I'll give him a watch.

I don't really like trying to evaluate corners without the all-22. It's so hard to do them justice without being able to see the safeties, determine the coverage and then evaluate based on their assignment. I do think CB is probably the most trait-dependent position in the game. Speed and COD, especially in a man-heavy scheme, are essential. Another problem is we don't know if DeMeco plans to stay a heavy zone guy or transition to more man. DeMeco brought in Bettcher, who is a man guy. Maybe he wants to mix it up more or possibly even transition altogether. If we going to play more man, they're definitely going to have to invest draft resources in the position,

This makes way to much sense Hero. All 22 should be the standard. This garbage side to side telecast is horrible.

There would have been plenty of "scouts" who had Mahomes as a 3rd rounder. Lance is definitely a risk, the sample size is tiny and the level of competition poor.

Even so, if you can't see the potential of the kid you don't know what you're looking at.

The tight window thing is ridiculous, the only time that he'd even try is 3rd and long, the offense was half field hi lo read, and if its not there run. There wouldn't be a tight window as he'd take off and pick up the first down.

You shouldn't penalize people for what their coaches had them doing, and you can't really fault the coaches when you have a redshirt rookie going undefeated, winning player of the year and the title, without throwing an interception!

Herbert is a great example of this.

Yeah, that's a very good parallel.

I remember something from a Bill Walsh book. Don't tell me what he's done, tell me what he can do for us.
Bill Walsh also said to avoid drafting one-year wonders.
