Whoa, Mac Jones is definitely not my boy. I like him, but he's not even my favorite QB in the draft. Zach Wilson is my favorite QB.

And I'm not the one heeding Bill Walsh's advice. I respect Bill Walsh for everything he did, but the game has changed. I think if he were alive today, he'd probably change his stance on a bunch of things.

Fair enough, I'm a Wilson guy as well.

The game has changed, but there are always nuggets to be gleaned from history and that's one I like.

College is completely different to the NFL, if you focus too much on college performance you'll miss a lot. I think you use what you see to project how a player would work for you.

Obviously you'd love to see more from Lance, but there's enough information to see the path to greatness.

I'd say there's no chance for Lance. The only glimmer for me is if Mac Jones and or Kyle Trask lights it up and recency bias gets them chosen above him.

I would gladly take him and go the Mahomes route, sit him for a year, then hopefully trade Jimmy after he has a good season.

Lance's ceiling is just so high.

This is from Dec 2nd and in my opinion has happened, recency bias is in full swing and Trey is falling down both draft twitter and insiders mocks.

Although I now have him firmly as QB4, I still think he has one of the highest ceilings out there and the only thing that would stop me running the card to the podium is if Pitts were on the board, can't quit that guy.

My new thoughts are whether it would be better to trade up for Justin Fields or Zach Wilson or wait for Lance. I'm still torn, I'd make some calls, but I'm not trading the farm.

Wouldn't Wilson be a one year wonder? 2019- 2382 yards 11tds and 9ints. That's not a lot to write home about.

Agreed. I still think once his pro-day happens there's no chance he's sitting there at 12.

if Pitts/Slater and no top 4 QB is there I'm gonna try to move down with a team like NE/WFT to get more picks (they might want Jones).

Didnt Walsh give the ok to take Gio Carmazzi? Or was it Drunkenmiller? Damn, both were absolute trash

I don't think he okayed ether one. The only qb I remember him speaking about was Jake the snake. Who was descent but injury prone.

Yep. Carmazzi was mobile and had a big arm. The 'zone would've loved him.

Exactly, even the all time greats are wrong from time to time
Daniel Jeremiah has Trey Lance over Justin Fields

https://www.nfl.com/news/daniel-jeremiah-s-top-50-2021-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-2-0

He has a bad habit of sinking his weight before he throws, which impacts his placement.

I noticed this as well. It's annoying watching him do that. He'll often throw low at short-to-intermediate targets. I'm guessing the cause of this is that dip before throws.

That's part of my analysis as well a few pages back. I think it was already better in his 1 game this, and from some of the videos NY has posted looks like it's nearly gone.

A year learning under our coaches could be huge, get Mike Shanahan involved as well.

Ugh, I can't get over this game. He was awful. Dude misses so many throws. And I still see the dip. I like Fields more than Lance because I feel confident I know what I'm getting. I have no clue with this guy. If this game was a sign of what's to come in Lance's 2020 season, good luck to whoever drafts him.

I honestly don't think he was that bad, they tried to change their whole offense to showcase him and it didn't work. The deep ball miss was bad, but under pressure, but I only remember a couple of others.

Also some of those throws were beautiful but just dropped.

I have Fields ahead, and unlike at the start of the process, I think I would even if Trey would have had the season I'd have projected him to have.

Bigger question is Lance at 12 or trade a future 1st and change for Fields, that's tough.
You know who he reminded of in that game? Dead on Deshone Kizer. I remember watching Kizer and seeing him be so damn inconsistent. One play he'd make an amazing 50-yard throw on a rope, and then he'd miss a dude 5 yards away from him on the next play. Kizer also had all the tools. Dude sat, started, etc. Nothing worked. I don't even know if he's in the league anymore.

Funny also that Kizer and Lance look like brothers. Once you see Kizer, you can't unsee it.
