Crazy part about this is no matter how talented you think Trey is as a player he's going to be a way better person and teammate. He's truly that special of a human being. https://t.co/qUXIRZVB1l

from Kyle in Phil Simms interview, pertains to adapting to Trey Lance: "I don't think you have one certain type you're looking for. You're just trying to find a guy who is better than about 98 percent of the people on this planet, or in this country, and when you find that, you get him, and you adjust to him."

Seems to make sense to me.

The beauty of these top 5 QB's for me is that you won't have to adjust to them, they can all run our system if we coach them up.
If I have Fields or Lance I'll have a red zone run package in for them, but that's about it, no huge shift.

So basically he was throwing it shorter than a good portion of the league and still one of the highest in turning the ball over. No one calls Case Keenum a great QB, yet they had identical stats the yr he almost got Minn to the SB. I think Jimmy is an avg starting QB in the NFL, which is fine if the rest of the roster is stacked top to bottom.
I do understand he ran the offense that Kyle has in place for him. I also don't think that was the optimal offense the wants to run. And yes injuries play a part for sure, he hasn't been able to stay healthy his whole career thus far. He's a good bridge QB.
Anyway I don't want to make this another Jimmy vs the world thing. I just think they need to have a legit plan at QB beyond 2021.
Just restructure Jimmy this yr and throw Lance behind him. IF Jimmy get's hurt or isn't playing to the level you want, see what the rookie can do. If Jimmy balls out trade him, if not cut him in 2022 and eat some DM. I mean Jimmy very well might welcome a restructure to remove a yr of mid range pay in 2022 (with no GTD cash) in hope to either be a FA or get a much bigger extension sooner.
I want no part of a then 36 yr old Matt Ryan who isn't gonna play for chump change either....SF will probably have to give up more draft picks to get a top shelf rookie QB in 2022 because we're all assuming they play better than this last season.
Also why do they have to trade a future 1st to move up a couple spots? I mean who cares anyway...they're gonna have to use future first next yr and 2023 to move up (probably more) if they go that route. I doubt they're drafting top 12 AND if so it's because we didn't take care of the QB position anyway
I agree with NY that I don't think this is what Kyle's vision is for his offense. I think Kyle is adaptive, yes, and that's precisely what he's done with his offense for Jimmy. But I don't think he's content knowing that his offense is basically nonexistent outside the numbers and downfield.
This is the best description of Jimmy that I've heard: He's an average QB with above-average QB moments. The problem is you need Jimmy(or a vet on his level or better) if you want to win next season. I can't envision a single QB in this draft leading a team to the playoffs in the NFC West.

i've said this numerous times in the JG and Mullens threads. His vision is what it looks like with Nick Mullens behind the helm. The offense is so opened up compared to when JG is under center. You can see the difference in our offense with Nick compared to JG. All anyone wants to see is the turnovers and rightfully so. This offense doesn't need a unicorn to operate at maximum level.

That's why I think a pay cut/restructure for Jimmy and drafting one of the top 4 QBs makes sense.
free up cap space, still got a chance to roll with Jimmy to the playoffs, they have a backup and they have a LT plan.

19 right here
I'm not sure people understand how physically gifted Trey Lance is. He doesn't even need a hitch at the end of his drop to flick it 55 yards pic.twitter.com/qzliS116um

He would be a fantastic pick at 12. Unfortunately he won't be available at 12

We may trade down to 7 or 8 and it wouldn't cost a 💩 ton

The most physically talented QB in the draft. Dude is rocked up. He looks like a RB and has a f**king cannon. I think his arm could look special at his pro day.
Trust me, I like Trey a lot. I'm just cautious.

For me it's like a basketball projection, see a kid you like in high school, one year of college play and you grab him, accepting that you'll have to finish the development he didn't get in college that other guys did.
In these situations you have to trust your coaches and the kid, from what I've seen he's going to work his butt off.
I know the guy that NY posted quotes and interviews from worked with him, but though he may embellish or fluff his protégé, it's bad for his reputation to flat out lie.
