Was just told "Trey Lance the young man/student of the game is even more impressive than Trey Lance the athlete", which is saying A LOT. This man is talented as hell, and the amount he was asked to do/was responsible for within the offense at North Dakota State is exceptional. A+

Talents like Josh Allen who Shanahan was big on
Wonder what Shanny thinks about Lance

This, and I love Lance.
We'd also be putting pressure on him, and us to play him before he's ready

why do you have to play him before he's ready? restructure Jimmy, he's the starter this yr. Lance is the 2022 starter unless god forbid JG get's hurt

It just adds pressure, it's one thing to chuck a 3rd to jump a couple of spots, but future 1sts on what would already be seen as a risk is a no go for me.
Besides we both know that I'm confident of him being there anyway, Draft loser

I know you want this, but it's highly unlikely it will happen. Not only are you going to tell Jimmy to take less money, but then you're also telling him you will replace him soon. There is zero reason for Jimmy to agree to a restructure, lose money, and be on his way out. Unless he's the most professional mfer that ever existed in sports.

Less money? Jimmy is getting more GTD money this yr by removing some of his base salary and turning it into a signing bonus (which he gets ASAP). That's money he gets regardless if he plays or not.
if he gets hurt, which isn't crazy to assume. He doesn't get paid his $800k per game check and he doesn't get his base salary....if there's incentives he loses out on that by sitting on the butt bench. Players don't care about their "cap hit" they care about their actual paycheck.
He has all the reasons in the world to restructure his contract. You don't lose money when you do a straight up restructure.
Now if they want to redo his contract, imo there's a lot of sense in both sides doing this as well.

Lol if he's there at 12 and we take him I'll gladly be called the draft loser
My god people, let's stop being tightwads with future picks. IF you want a kid go get him. If it's Lance or Jones whatever...make sure he's on your team.
man I'd hate to spend a weekend in Vegas with half you guys lol....be stuck at the nickle slots just playing so you can get a free beer lol.

I get what you're saying, but for me it's already a risk drafting Lance at 12, I don't need to take on more by increasing the stake.
If it was to hop a spot or two then maybe, but realistically you need to go to #7 at least.
If we still had our original 3rd I'd trade our 2 this year (for Fields or Wilson I would anyway), don't think I can justify it for Lance.
We need to restock our secondary room, possibly the DL and the OL, can't do that if you're throwing away capital.

Matt Maiocco brought up something interesting on his podcast, that Kyle Shanahan would like to see a quarterback prospect work under center, have his back to the defense and prove he can still make throws.

This is not how smart management in the NFL operate. This is how the Mel Kiper Jr's and all the other talking heads operate.
This way of thinking is how you get bent over in a trade. I'd love to see all the big shots at the high stakes tables show some receipts

Lol you gotta pay to play dude...if not you're not even really there.
no gives a s**t what you trade if the QB turns into a good starter....getting bent over is doing nothing.

restock for what? Jimmy gets hurt then it doesn't matter. He doesn't improve then what? You're stuck in the same situation in 2022. Possibly a worse situation based on having a worse pick....you gonna sit there and not move up again?
it's not like whomever you draft at 12 is gtd to be any better then any of the top 4 QBs. Same goes for whatever picks in 2022.
You hit on QB it's improves everything. You miss on a QB it's not the end of the world like it once was without the rookie pay scale.
