if the team feels that fields/Lance are that they shouldn't sit on their hands and pray one falls.

I'm not an athletic subscriber. Can anyone do a tldr version pls
Trey Lance, quarterback, North Dakota State.
Azeez Ojulari, outside linebacker, Georgia
Kwity Paye, defensive end, Michigan
Kyle Pitts, tight end, Florida
Rashawn Slater, tackle, Northwestern
Patrick Surtain II, cornerback, Alabama
He lists basic pros/cons for each of these six.
Others
Miami DE Gregory Rousseau
Wake Forest DE Carlos Basham Jr.
Miami DE Jaelen Phillips

I'm totally down with Barrows targets. If those were the picks I'm going Lance, Pitts, Slater, Surtain, Paye/Ojulari as my order of preference.

Greg Cosell of NFL films likes trey lance more than Justin fields interesting 🤔
another high level traits QB
strong live arm, excellent athleticism, twitch and explosiveness to the way he plays both as throwing and moving.
gives an NFL team the option for designed run game(not quite Lamar Jackson, but we see the value of having that ability)
can make second reaction plays both throwing and running. Has the athletic profile that fits the evolving mold of today's NFL QB
the playmaking dimension will get NFL teams excited - live arm, easy delivery, can drive the football. He's got A LOT of traits.
issue - level of competition and not playing this year(not his fault but... )

Look I'm a Lance guy, but the guy leads with Lance over Fields, but the rest of his report could also be applied to Fields, without the issues.
Fields also has the edge with accuracy. The only traits I have for Lance over Fields are size and under center footwork. The rest are at least a push.
Going forward I think Lance probably has the biggest jump in terms of receiving better coaching, so could have more upside, however Fields could also clearly benefit there as well.
I think it's a big stretch and leap of faith to have Lance over Fields.

Yeah and size isn't really that big of a difference.
fields is 6-3 227 and Lance is 6-4 226 . Lance is a yr younger which can matter for some (breakout yr is a thing for analytics). I would agree Lance's footwork in the pocket and his throwing motion (imo) is a little more tight. Fields overall is more accurate. I would say arm strength is damn near identical.
Personally I would love either. I just think there's more film for Cosell to nitpick with fields vs Lance.
everything I've read is they're both very coachable. Neither are finished products which imo is a positive not a negative.

JTO's recent film study on Lance was fantastic. He goes over how good his dropback is, but his mechanics leading to the throw is very inconsistent. Lance lowers his body and then throws, about 6" depth from where his shoulders are at the start of the snap, and then right at the hitch, dips too low. That could be the main issue with his accuracy.
Such an interesting analysis.

Yes it's something that's been brought up...he's been working on his throwing mechanics this whole yr (without a season). What's crazy is most of the film we see of him is a 19 yr old kid lol.

I think Lance has a stronger arm than Fields by a little bit. Fields has a cannon, but his style is more of a full-body rhythm thrower, which is one reason why he's more accurate. Lance is more twitchy. He has the twitch that elite throwers do, and I think his arm can be S-tier after some time spent fixing his mechanics. Dude already uncorks a 60-yard bomb off a sped up platform without a hitch. Imagine what he'll do once he gets everything ironed out.
Dude, this is a f**king bazooka

The more of Lance I watch the more I go He looks like an Urban Meyer prototype. Plus he was playing in an NFL Style offense at NDSU. Schottenheimer & Bevell are now running the show in Jax. It's just a crazy thought though, probably isn't going #1 but the film says otherwise

It's the innate feel & power he has about him athletically. His natural athleticism.
