Lazy feet. Dude is late because he's so lazy with his feet. Also, bad placement. This should be a pick-6. These are all from the 2020 game, which is terrifying to me. Is this who he was going to be in 2020? Who knows. I've got more.

Trey Lance was rarely under pressure, so this one is a bit alarming. UCA blitz 0. Where's your hot? Why are you looking left? His hot is the shallow route coming from the right. Why are you looking to the opposite side? Dude drops his eyes under pressure and just bails...
Anyways, there's more--a lot more. I'm about to go pump some iron. BBL.

No answers to what? I just posted clips of Mac throwing late, over throwing, throwing flat footed? No way he could do that according to some.
I never said Lance was perfect, he's a kid. Everyone knows he didn't play well in his one game this yr.

I'm just bringing some objectivity in here. People are way too focused on the sexy elite traits(trust me, they are sexy) while completely ignoring MASSIVE red flags on tape from a dude with 300 pass attempts since high school.
We have be objective. My favorite QB is Zach Wilson, but I've also stated that his frame and durability concerns me, that his footwork is sloppy and the character stuff needs to be vetted. I've said Mac Jones should go on day 2 because he's a poor athlete with an average-to-slightly-above-average arm but is being boosted by his production and intangibles. We gotta keep it real.
I got some more I'll post in a few.

Kudos to you for the objectivity on all these dudes.

That's a fair comment.
I like Wilson more than anyone not named Lawrence. I just value the talent/traits of Fields/Lance. I do understand the question marks, if they didn't have any we wouldn't have a chance at drafting either (still probably don't)...Or really any QB unless we had a top 2 pick in a draft

This one and the missed hook do concern me, if I'm Kyle I have them on a shared screen and I'm asking him what he saw, and why he did what he did. Has he been coached re alerts, what's their progression structure. As a RS Freshman he was making half field reads and taking off, can he learn these nuances?
No one is saying this kid is ready to start year 1.
You bring up Mac Jones, but how would Trey look after 3 years learning behind 2 NFL QB's, digesting a pro style offense?
You take the time to develop this kid and he may have other worldly development from where he is now. If it takes you 2 years so be it.

Right, that's the overarching issue with Lance. Nobody knows what they're getting because of his lack of reps due to COVID. What's terrifying to me is how bad he looked in this 2020 game. He could have easily thrown 3 INTs, one for pick six. His ball placement was all over the place, he made bad decisions, and he just looked sloppy and lazy. That throw on the previous page where he's staring at his TE with the nearest defender about 5 yards away from him and opts to not throw him the ball is definitely worrisome. Footwork can be fixed and ball placement can improve with the aforementioned, but if you can't see the field, we've got a problem. If you listen to KNBR around here, you're very familiar with Greg Papa always talking about how some QBs simply don't see the field, and that's something almost never improves enough to overcome the shortcoming. That's not good.

That's fair, but he had so much going on, he'd reworked his throwing motion, had no run game for the first time, and it looked like they threw new concepts at him.
By the 2nd half when they let him run he looked a lot more comfortable.
Reminded me of early Deshaun Watson in the league. Would I have loved to see him come out the other side? Sure, but he kind of did in the same game.
Would I have liked to see him transfer and start against better competition? Yes, but then he'd be going #1 if he played well.
The question for me is, do you trust our coaches? From what we've heard he has the capacity to learn to a high level, are they good enough to bring the obvious talent out?

I trust Shanny more than anyone in the league to develop Trey if he believes he can be developed, so if that's who he chooses, I'll be f**king pumped. Those traits coming together with Shanny's offense is mind-blowingly exciting.

That's where I am at this point, would even get Mike in as a consultant in season while they have to focus more on Jimmy, for me Jimmy allows us to take this risk and time.
I only see the Panthers having a similar situation, possibly the Falcons, but they surely can't do that at #4.

Hard pass in the first, even with a trade down

Would like to see Trey Lance in a pro scheme that marries the run/pass game together.

Throw play-action concepts, scheme verticals, use his dual-threat ability on boot/designed rushes.
ATL, CAR, DET, SF. Maybe NE & WASH, too. https://t.co/HTfLcoP1HJ
