Yea it did. After that draft he tried to say cj beathard was the qb he was looking for thats why they reached for him. He might as well have said it. I know those werent his exact words but he made it seem like Cj woulda been the next kirk cousins. Started the year with Brian Hoyers sorry ass smh.

He might as well said it so that's how it works? reaching much?

No actually he wanted Kirk and that was known by everyone...they had an absurd amount of money they had to spend and they were planning on Kirk.

CJ was a mid rd draft pick and nothing more...just like how Andy Reid drafted dudes like Kevin Hogan, Aaron Murray,Mike Kafka, A.J. Feeley etc. Yet everyone pretends like Reid is some QB whisper lol. NO ONE expect a mid rd QB to become a FQB. let's stop being silly.

Please name me the amazing FA QBs available in that 2017 off season? Truth is no one truly knows what Kyle ultimately wants at QB and if he's ONLY gonna go for vets vs drafting one.

And who said something about firing him?

It is a well-known fact that Shanahan prefers experienced established QBs in the mould of K. Cousins, Hoyer, Schaub or M. Ryan.

Like Jimmy Garoppolo? Who had all of what...four or five starts before the 49ers acquired him?

Saying that Shanahan prefers established veterans isn't the same thing as claiming that he isn't capable of or willing to develop a young passer. I'm sure when it comes down to it, every coach would prefer a talented and proven veteran QB over a rookie with an unknown career trajectory.

But if that option isn't available and instead you see a guy that you think can be the next Matt Ryan, the next Cousins or heck even the next Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson, I'm sure Shanahan will have interest but he's not going to draft a QB just because a desperate and whiny fan base wants a quarterback, ANY quarterback.

Agree, and I'll just add that Kyle would draft a young raw but talented QB if he already had that veteran QB. Jimmy kind of fits that veteran QB, and I think this draft is the perfect time for Kyle to draft a young raw talented QB. Now whether it's the 12th pick or 237th pick, that's the question. I'd like him to draft a QB more towards the first round than the last round because of Jimmy's health issues.

So you went from "he said it" to "he might as well have said it."

I thought the 49ers attended his pro day?

This makes me think we are trading up to get Lance.

Peter Panacy or whomever that is, clearly didn't update his article. It was stated after Breer's list was out that SF would be attending his pro-day, just not the HC/GM.

FWIW has Kyle ever attended a pro-day while in SF?
Great article, and it'll definitely help him acclimatize. It gives me confidence he can get it in a year, his general inexperience may lead him to struggle still in year 2 (or 1st he gets on the field) but I think it's worth the risk as after that I think he'll be a stud.

Thank you!!!
I just heard this. I haven't seen the source yet, but:

Benjamin Allbright: The worst kept secret in the NFL is the Atlanta Falcon's planning to take Trey Lance at 4. Their owner is in love with him.

It makes too much sense. I don't think we can realistically get Lance now that I've thought about it for awhile. Lance is the only QB you could argue needs several years of learning.

Been saying for awhile that Atlanta will go QB. Ryan is way up there in years and they may not have a chance at a top QB prospect later. Perfect situation for him, getting to sit for a year behind a veteran passer.
Mac Jones it is

I'd be surprised if they pull the trigger on this at #4, that's crazy bold, they are one of 2 teams along with the Panthers I can see it making sense who pick before us though.

Also that's poor for the organisation if they let that get out and it's true, fishing for trade compensation?

I mean if Ryan demands a trade if the Falcons pick Lance, maybe we should get Ryan and punt on QB for a year?

But really, if Lance goes at four, I doubt Jones or Fields makes it to 12. The 49ers would be stuck with Kyle Trask, because Mond will be taken before our round two pick.
