Greg Rousseau - EDGE - UMiami

Draftwire interview with Gregory Rousseau. He explained the reason he opted out this past season. Basically took the chance to get ready for the NFL because he wanted his mom who was a Covid nurse to retired and away from taking care of Covid patients, this interview was back in October when Covid was strong and no vaccines available. Sounds to me like a kid who loves his mother.
Been training with Chuck Smith since opting out who is one of the best pass rushing/defensive linemen coach/trainer in the country. Multiple NFL and college players train with Chuck in the offseason to improve their craft.

If we were in a different position, I'd entertain it. But right now, we're still praying that it "clicks" for Kinlaw. We don't need another player in a similar boat.
My initial reaction was I wouldn't touch any of these EDGE prospects unless trade down into the early 20s. Thought about why the hype Rousseau had last year died down and it was because he opted out, not a smart reason to discard a player's ability. But after watching him and digging a little deeper into Rousseau, I came away very impressed with this kid. He's just scratching the surface.
Everyone wants a flashy QB which is cool but an ELITE DL which was proven again 2 years in a roll (SF2019 & TB2020) and many other times (NY Giants, Seahawks comes to mind) has a better chance of taking a team to the SB than a QB alone.

This dude elite elite
I honestly don't know much about him but it looks like he has all the tools. Maybe in the 2nd or 3rd round. They could trade up and get another 2nd if needed.

Agreed, BUT I get what Breer is thinking. Our current players are like extra coaches for this kid and should help his development, In the end let them work on Kinlaw. Id rather get a cover corner or elite Guard since I don't consider and edge guy to be of elite caliber this draft.

Yeah I don't want my players being coaches, I want them to work on their s**t and be the best they can be....ain't nobody got time to do that.

This is probably the worst mock I've seen thus far...I also have to start being realistic in that SF is more than likely not going to be bold and go QB

I hear you bro/ I want the QB top, but them trading up like that is a dream and we know it. I said in a different thread if they stay put, id rather trade down a few times and pick up a Guard or Etienne/Harris while adding more picks this year and next.
Do people even watch this guy's tape or do they just focus on the stats and measurables? Most of his sacks came from inside. I repeat, most of his sacks came from the inside.

Personally, I see 6'7", and I'm sickened. Tape is super underwhelming to me. Dude is super raw, super tall and wins more from the inside than outside.

This video summarizes him well. He had 4 sacks, but that's misleading because 3 of them came from inside; 1 came from a manufactured pressure where he slanted inside. Again, nothing from the edge. None of these sacks are impressive to me. A bunch of low-quality, busted assignment sacks. This is his tape in a nutshell.

Even worse version of AA. Oooof.
This is the dude you're stressed your team will draft. Like CJ Henderson last year

Most guys I listen to realize the tape is poop...I f**king hope SF isn't dumb enough to take him at 12.

He's almost 100% potential. If they drafted him they'd be going with another incredibly raw but talented prospect. This dude was playing safety not that long ago. No telling if he fully develops or if this is as good as he gets and if that's the case then he'll be an NFL flop.
