Kyle drafting Mac at 3 could potentially be similar to passing on Mahomes and Watson in 2017 because of Kirk Cousins.

It's that type of decision. And in this case it could end up being a worse move because you didn't use your original pick and traded so much to get to #3.

I think Jones also doesn't make sense with Jimmy. Jones is probably more NFL ready than the other guys who would be available. Fields/Lance and even Wilson are the guys who are better off sitting.

I hate this wait. Everything in my brain is saying Kyle isn't going to take Jones after a move like that, that we don't leak out our interests unless it's to blow smoke...but god damnit I can't help but be concerned.

Can we just start the draft now then let Atlanta kick things off on the 29th??

Except we didn't get Cousins. Had we gotten Cousins we wouldn't be having this discussion

Yeah Cousins could of been winning all those Superbowl for the 49ers instead of... What? He has no Super Bowls? But im sure hes been to an NFC title game? None? Not one? 3 career playoff games? 25-21-1 in Minnesota? And he will make over 100 million? Sounds like we dodged a bullet.

Cousins has had great weapons at Minn, with Diggs and Thielen and now with Jefferson, and Dalvin Cook. His OL is below average and he is not any good against pressure, the 49ers in the playoffs exposed this weakness.
Sounds familiar to Mac Jones who is carried by his elite offense way better than any competition at college level
It's pretty simple and shouldn't be overthought. Just draft Justin Fields, who is the only QB who will be available and worth a top 5 pick. But let him be groomed with Jimmy G starting. Perhaps Jimmy has a career year and his draft stock increases. But Fields will have a much better chance with a year to learn everything he can. Obviously Jimmy injuries are a risk which would foce Fields to be thrown to the wolves. I still feel the Dolphins screwed Tua by starting him while Fitzmagic was playing so well for them.
Anything else is pretty much a reach which most likely will sadly end the Shanahan / Lynch era, going back to the Chip Kelly days and becoming the NFC version of the Jets or Texans.

Jones' footwork under structure is great...once he's got to move around and reestablish his base it's not good he becomes much less athletic.

Scary considering he had the best Wrs running the routes.

Missed on watson/Mahomes because of cousins but also dont forget completely whiffing on Thomas.

Missed out on Allen for Jimmy, dont fault him here tbh. Allen was a wildcard and we didnt know what Jimmy had to offer

Missed out on Brady for Jimmy. Oof

Now if we pick mac and Lance/Fields take off.... lol
It seems to me Fields is the pick. Nobody is claiming to hear chatter that the pick is Fields. All we hear is Mac Jones and Trey Lance. Fields is a superior prospect over both. It's like all they want is for Chris Simms and everyone else to talk about Jones and Lance while Fields flys under their media radar. They go to Jones pro day and not Fields. It's all a bluff. The pick is Fields.

I honestly think Fields would EASILY take the job from Jimmy before the season. He's better than Jimmy right now

That would make more sense if we were picking 4 or 5. Who do we need to bluff picking 3?

Possibly Jets. There's some mind games going on between Shanny and Salehs camp with the "Jets are locked on Wilson" news

Atlanta trading up. Idk. All I know is that they never reveal who they are drafting and often times they won't bring guys in or go to pro days etc. I'm going off of what I've seen in the past. The guy they talk about the least will be the one they pick. It's just my guess. I think they have found a few ways to make it look like they're not looking in Fields direction. For what reason idk other than the fact they don't like people linking them to their guy.

Fields is definitely more talented. But Shanahan offense is difficult to learn even for veterans and there's a lot more to learn to transition from college to the NFL. Mahomes, Rodgers, Steve Young, Big Ben and others began their careers on the bench. Jimmy is the perfect bridge QB, a guy you can win any game if healthy. If dude goes down again, no more CJ or Mullens s**tshow, it's the rookie time.
Tua would hav benefited to stay his rookie season on the bench with Ryan Fitzmagic playing well that year, wasn't a good coaching move to throw him out there.

Okay then I take Wilson who I think is #1 on their board

I keep hearing that and yet Beathard started games as a rookie. RG3 won rookie of the year. Jimmy came mid season and possibly played his best football in this system during that 2017 games. Tua and Fitz is not a good comparison because Tua was coming off of a major injury that could've ended his career, sitting him was more for allowing as much time as possible to come back from that injury, for that yes it was a stupid coaching move. I would be for it though, letting Jimmy play the season and letting Fields learn for the year, I just don't see it going that way if we do draft Fields

I mean I would be happy if someone traded up in front of us for Fields, that would mean we get Wilson. I'm happy with any of Lawrence, Wilson or Fields and we guarantee get one of them if we want. I get what you saying though and hell maybe they are higher on Fields than Wilson and like you said, don't want someone to trade with the Jets and take him? Who knows.
