Justin Fields QB - Ohio State

Haskins' weaknesses aren't the same as Fields and the offense they ran was different overall.

tua had a hip issue. He played and struggled to make those accurate passes that he was known for at Bama....if he wasn't healthy they wouldn't have played their high priced rookie

I expected a little more from ya tjd...it's a very weak argument for the sake of arguing

Jones threw for 30 yards per game and had a better completion percentage so it's not the exact same numbers. Tua also had a lot of noticable down games against better competition which didn't happen to Mac. Somebody said this with Young and Montana but that's basically what you're doing. Well they're in the same offense, same receivers so obviously the same QB. Not even close. Pull up tapes of both of them vs say Georgia and LSU and let's test that out. Yeah they both benefited from yac as did Haskins but the point I was making is that's with an increased volume of throws. It goes without saying it's not going to be an extra 150 bombs.

Should be noted that both Devonta Smith and Waddle have been asked who they thought was better and it was Mac hands down. One on record the other to NFL execs.

Fields gonna be nasty in this offense
In my poor fans evaluation with nothing but YouTube highlights and listening to what I deem to be smart media folks. Fields seems to throw the football 60+ yards on a rope but he needs to take a 2 yard step in order to deliver that ball. (Like a javelin thrower in the olympics)Feel like Lawrence is in the same boat. Both of them know this is the case and hurry their mechanics when there is pressure in their face. When that happens they are not very accurate.Wilson does not seem to need that much of a step to deliver the same ball. I realize there are folks on this board who know more about this type of thing than I do.
in the end I believe in Shanahan and Lynch to make the best decision.

Dude NY would believe anything if it makes the terror of the 49ers drafting Jones a little less of a possible reality, including claiming Tau was better than Jones.

By the way, it's WAY too early to call for the curtain on Tua. He's got a lot of time left. Yeah, he wasn't that great last year, but he wasn't losing games for the Dolphins by throwing picks, either. His TD/INT ratio was greater than 2:1. He'll get better.

Jones has over 50 more passing attempts than tua did his last full season.

jones played one team that was top 20 in defensive. Not too much Covid s**t in college was a mess.

no I'm not doing that. Young and Montana are not similar trait QBs.

yeah pull up the LSU team this yr lol. I don't even think they were in the top 25 this yr?

Last I checked Tua was already drafted, he's got nothing to gain from them saying Jones is better...cool they're helping their teammate out.

Arguing just to argue. So far off track about nothing lol. Jesus

They're experts, sure, many of them having played or coached at the NFL level, but that doesnt necessarily mean they do their homework. On the other hand, most of us here are fans and are prone to exciting plays and players, but there is so much content in this thread... advanced stats, all 22 angles and literally every snap of his career.

I personally feel most of these experts listen to each other and whatever connections they have. And with all the smoke screens that are out, it would make sense that they dont value Justin like we do.

They either know something from behind the scenes that we don't, or they are hung up on things that don't matter

I think it's the later. Then again it could all be predraft BS.

Chargers at least seem to sort through all the BS that comes out there on prospects. I remember Joey Bosa at 3 was kind of a shocker draft day because everyone started nitpicking his play and questioned his ability in the NFL. He went from the #1 slam dunk player in that draft to being a surprise at going as high as 3. Worked out great for them.

They pulled the same stuff with Herbert. He was a top QB prospect for most of the season until Burrow and Tua stole his shine. Suddenly people didn't even have him as the 3rd QB. Chargers took him and look like geniuses for it.

Fields has been a consistent great QB. He's really done nothing to show he's not. If teams want to concentrate on a couple of bad games given everything that went on with OSU and ignore everything else then they deserve to get killed for it. I hope we're not one of those teams.

Jones was hands down better than Tua in Tua's full season. The next year you can argue they were pretty even but even then like I pointed Mac still threw for 30 more yards and was more accurate.

FWIW Tua is better than Jones.

Well he couldn't beat him out while Tua was healthy. People forge that Tua played much of his final year with an injured hip. He had major surgery in the off season and he may not have been 100% when he played last year. I remember some people saying he may never be the same player he was before the injury.

Lol how does anything we say in here change the outcome at the end of the day?

im not gonna pretend he's something he's not, just because he might be the pick.

And it's not me just straight up hating Jones, it's the fact that he's not in the same class as the other 4. He doesn't make this team much better at all, I could argue he makes the team worse based on what they gave up for him.

Nice post, feels weird being aligned with you! It's fun though

So much better he couldn't beat him or Hurts out.

He threw the ball more per game, so I would expect him to actually have more yards.

a 3rd of Jones passing attempts were at or behind the LOS, great way to up the completion % no doubt.
Any way back to fields the guy who should be the pick at 3

Dude your analysis is just like any other fans analysis. Very weak and uninformed. Keep throwing that s**t against the wall.

He makes the most sense in terms of talent, potential, and considering the immense trade value required.
