what Day said about Fields this weekend.

• On reads and game-plan prep. "He's very, very intelligent. He reminds me a lot of [former Buckeye] Joe Burrow when it comes to that. Tell him something once, and he absorbs it," Day said. Fields' 56-yard TD pass to Chris Olave in the January playoff game came on his fourth read in the progression, and it was thrown 62 yards in the air, to Olave at the Clemson goal line. Over their time together, Day said Fields has become more comfortable telling him what he likes and doesn't like in a game plan.

wHaTs hE suPpoSeD to say?

Lol right, he also gave a negative which was how he played too much hero ball and brought up the Indiana game...said he needed to take what they were giving him more. That's a common thing with a lot of this uber talent QBs in college. That's a learned trait for sure...

My guess is when you are one of those talents that is better than 98% of the guys out there, you are used to beating people by sheer will your talent.

People have talked for years about how Shanny wants a guy who will exhaust the play before free lancing. Now when it is Fields he " holds the ball too long".

Just looking for any reason, any excuse. We are getting Steve Young 2.0 and will wreck the league for years to come.

Convince me that Fields isn't going to be a bust like so many other OSU QBs taken early in the draft?

This has to be our guy...now ay we traded up so high for any of the others.

Still hoping we somehow land Wilson.

Guess it's time to take a deep dive into this thread...

So we are still on this?

Convince me that Mac Jones isn't going to be a bust like so many Alabama QBs taken.

Don't hold your breath waiting on that response.

RG3 was 223 lbs? That doesn't seem right. I thought it was like 215

It is.

He was pretty damn thick but it's a weak comparison besides both being athletic black quarterbacks. Fields is both more accurate and more polished as a passer.

That dumb ass wants to draft Pitts at 3 lol
I understand the RGIII comparisons. It's not just because they're black, it's because they are identical in size and speed. I will say that Griffin plays faster in games, but that air raid style in Baylor is nothing like Ryan Day's style at OSU. Also, despite their statures, Fields is thicker from the waste down (pause) and runs to get first downs. He's also better than Griffin in the pocket, IMO.

Looks a tad different

In regards to playing weights, we as fans put way too much stock in that. Just because Player A is 220 pounds that doesnt necessarily mean that's his playing weight. Players will beef up (or slim down) for the upcoming combine for better 40s, bench or verts. Also, player weights fluctuate constantly throughout the year. A lot depends on diet, position and injuries.

My college coach always said "you get better in the off season, you maintain during the regular season". We would go from heavy lifts in the offseason and bulking where my weight would be up, to doing a lot of plyometrics, stretching and "light" work to prevent injury and soreness.

That doesnt mean that every college and pro program follows that rule of thought, but from what I've heard, most do.

Is he going to wear #1 with us?
Jesus christ, I just skimmed through some RG3 college tape. Absolutely disgusting. Dude looks so unnatural throwing the ball. Mechanics, footwork, etc everything was so awkward.

Never heard that complaint before. Dude was a star in college throwing bombs left and right.
