They are bringing in our system, no way in hell they skip on Wilson.

Wilson isnt better than Fields. What good team has Wilson played against? Curious. The smoke says the Jets take Wilson but Im not buying it until it happens because Fields has always been the better prospect until recently ...if nothing else the draft is entertaining idk what will happen lol. I just hope we walk away with Mr Fields

Because Wilson is the prototype for what you need in a QB for this offense. Fields is fantastic, I love Fields, I hope we draft him, but if you are installing this thing fresh as opposed to moving it to the next level you want the guy the checks all the boxes for it. He looks off the safety, he changes his arm slot when called on, he is accurate and can buy time in the pocket, he throws with timing rather than waiting for the break. I like Fields for us....but for them, to be starting year one, Wilson makes too much sense. The reason I like Fields for us is we are farther along, we have the system, we have the coaches, we have the players around him, what we are after is someone who has elite traits above and beyond. We want to add an elite deep ball and some dimension of running ability. Fields can be coached up by a quality staff to get more instinctual the kid is a gamer with all the tools, but I think an inferior or raw coaching staff could ruin him.

Ive actually read the opposite about Wilson in some of those areas primarily throwing with timing and anticipation. Go listen to the JTO youtube. The analysis on these guys changes depending on who you listen to. I just gotta go with my own 2 eyes. Fields was always better than Wilson. Nothing ive seen changed that all a sudden. We also didnt get the luxury of seeing Wilson against any great opponents. Wilson basically looks like Baker Mayfield in college but against weaker competition

Not worried about the Mac talk from the media. I have faith Kyle wants a live arm to make his offense explode. Mac ain't that guy.
I knew this move up was for Fields because I had him behind Lawrence from the break. I never looked at Wilson to much because of the level of competition but NOW after more seasoned spectators has highlighted him I can see why he would be number 2. That said this puts Fields for me at least as the clear 3 so why not Fields?

Mac Jones was not even in my running for top 3. Top 5 yes but top 3? Not me bro

Another thing as related to the Deshaun Watson rumblings from earlier in the offseason and how we were in the running for him and HOU wanting at least 3 first rd picks. Ain't it in the least bit peculiar that we not soon thereafter made this trade up to top 3 AFTER news broke about Deshaun Watson and then we surrendered 3 first round picks to do it? We did not bite on Stafford or Darnold. We went top 3 AFTER that news and did not nab those other QBs so who do we now want aside from the QBs available earlier and how does a top 3 QB compare?

This smells a whole lot like Fields to me and not Mac Donalds but we shall see

We were looking to trade up for weeks though. It was said we had spoken to Miami, Atlanta, and Cincinnati, with Miami always being the most serious talks.

However, how the hell do you go from Watson, to Jones? They are as different as it gets. Fields matches Watson far more as does Lawrence and Wilson.

Were we willing to trade 3 firsts for Watson? If not, then trading 3 firsts for Lance/Fields doesn't make sense either...unless we knew what Watson was going to be involved in.

Yes that was the words we heard about asking about trading up for weeks BUT from what we actually could SEE I saw that we were a destination for Watson and then these allegations and THEN we trade up for 3 firsts. This made me immediately think that maybe there was some truth to the speculation that we were in on Watson

I could see and not speculate that we traded shortly AFTER the news book about Deshaun. So then it goes back to what you said:

It is possible that we were willing to do the trade but HOU said they were not interested in trading him and then these allegations I am sure became a turnoff and this could explain us making this move up thereafter

I just know that I saw this move up after this news broke and the timing of our trade up being finalized THIS EARLY out from the draft was rather convenient. Too convenient I believe but we shall see by month's end

Good thing your opinion has nothing to do with where they get drafted.

Or Houston wasn't willing to take that deal. Either they didn't want to trade at the time or wanted more than that.

The deal Chicago offered Seattle for Russell was more valuable than what we gave up for 3.

Looking to move up is also a good way to see who is interested in QBs.

You also have misinformation right now. There were reports we tried to move up to Jets pick, then reports came out saying we never reached out to the Jets.

At this point it's just a waiting game. I do know that our team has done an excellent job of keeping things in house until the move is made. A bunch of examples have been brought up already

Buckner trade, Aiyuk love, trade for #3, etc..

What Kyle has said lately doesn't match Jones. It does match Fields and potentially even Lance. Selecting Jones over those guys just seems so odd. I know Kyle has his love fests but I just can't think he's so tone deaf to where the league is now that he legit thinks giving up all that draft capital for Jones is the right move.

Either that or he watched too much Draft Day. Though he needs to remember they took the OSU guy at their pick....
Juice vacations with Kyle Shanahan. He is following one QB from the draft class. He went to Harvard so he's smartish. Justin Fields will be the QB that brings home #6 then 7, 8 and maybe 9.

To you and others sure. To me, and what I look for in a QB Jones has and I would have to hope Fields learns. Or at the very least hope his better traits neutralizes it.

My fear is if he doesn't learn these traits and the offense has to change to his strength it takes away from (or could take away) from what makes Kyle k**e.

Kyle had to change his system for RGIII and then when they tried to run his system year two. It got ugly. With Jones we wouldn't have to go down that path.

Having Fields will only expand the playbook. Every rookie QB has things to work on including Lawrence, Wilson, etc. How people can ignore his level of competition vs results is amazing. He outplayed Lawrence in their last meeting against Clemson, and Lawrence had 400 yds passing. Fields threw for 6 TD's in that game I believe. They all had off games, as does every player that has ever laced them up. If I were to guess, I believe the 49ers are equally enamored with Fields and Wilson ... hence the trade up to #3 being enough of a move. I think that either QB will be fine with them.
