Justin Fields QB - Ohio State

That likely is the case, but why is he consistently late? Is it a slow processor between the ears, or a disconnect with his receivers where he doesn't trust them to see what he sees and be where they're supposed to be? That's my question.

Kyle's offense has a ton of option routes, so if he does end up here, which would be very exciting, that's something he'd have to improve. When you revisit this quote Shanny made earlier in the season about how he's changed in evaluating QBs now, you really have to wonder how he sees someone like Justin Fields, who has all the tools to be one of the best throwers on the planet. If we haven't made a move to acquire a QB by draft day, we're 100% going to draft one. And if that's the case, it's going to be interesting to see whether Shanny's words below manifest in drafting a guy like Fields or if things never change and we end up with Mac Jones. Personally, I'd rather swing for the fences and sacrifice draft picks than give away our NFL proven studs like Kittle, Warner or Bosa.

Hmmmm, that is interesting, absolutely not how he looked at it when they first came in. Let's hope he was being honest.

Get the best player, not the best fit.

Who are you gonna believe, us or your lyin' eyes
I'm warming up to the idea of Fields in a 49er uniform the more I go over his tape. If we're going to swing for a fences on a guy with the ceiling to be one of the best throwers on the planet, this is the dude. I like Trey Lance, but he's waaaay too risky for me. Maybe if he falls to 12 but definitely not trading up for him. Fields plays with a calmness in the pocket that I really appreciate. He's what Greg Papa calls a "slow breather." His feet are quiet in the pocket, and he rarely looks panicked. Also, I really like that he makes good decisions despite having a rocket arm. A lot of guys allow their big arm to get them into trouble. I just don't see how the 49ers can get it done. Dude is going to go top 5. I think the 49ers' best chance to hope that Robert Saleh decides to stay with Sam Darnold and works out a deal with us.

And if we're being completely honest, this is the dopest 49er uni swap I've seen in years.

Lol this
I like this Hero, I think the key is Miami, if they decide to make a selection instead of trading down then the cost shouldn't be too high.

The Falcons will be desperate to trade down, the top of the draft is just completely out of whack with their needs, they might do it at a discount, and wouldn't trade with the Panthers, would leave Pats as our only competition IMO.

The Bengals never trade, Eagles aren't picking a QB and rarely trade down, Lions should be looking to trade or take a WR.

Tony Pauline on his latest podcast said he's heard that Fields is dropping down boards a little and Lance might be moving ahead of him. He tosses out all the same issues that some have been saying in here. He's also pointed out that he himself doesn't see all those issues and talks about what he was schemed to do at OSU.

Dude if Fields makes it out of the top 5 I would absolutely move up for him....I keep throwing out that Kyle has worked with Fields (including some others on our coaching staff). They will have a better idea of him as a person then the other prospects.

Sweet baby Jesus can we swing for the fences just once!

that looks glorious.

Although I feel Wilson and Mac are the best fits for the Niners, I truly don't see Wilson getting past NYJ.

Fields on the other hand has been all over the board when looking into the top 15, similar to Trey Lance. One of TDN's mocks had Fields falling to us at #12. I honestly LOVE the fit of Fields and Shanahan. I don't think he has an easier transition into the pros with other teams in the top 15 other than SF and CAR.

If we take either Fields or Lance I predict we will be looking for a new head coach in 2023
The opinions on Fields, Wilson and Lance are all over the place. It's going to be really interesting to see what order these 3 get taken.

I don't know if any gonna drop that far down. We have ATL sitting at 4, Philly at 6, Panthers at 8, Giants at 11, and Cowboys at 10 who if they don't get a deal done with Dak, they are going QB.

The only way we got one of those guys, is trading with the Lions so we get to pick ahead of the Panthers. And that's also if the Panthers don't do the same thing...

Otherwise, we have to hope that one or two of those teams like Mac or Trask over Fields and Lance

If you can't mold their traits and skill set into a FQB then yeah we should be looking for a new coach.
