This. Fields still should carry some responsibility for those plays unless, for whatever reason, he has absolutely zero trust in his WRs to read the coverage and make the right choice.

the other question on something like this with fields is how well one reasonably expects a third-year college player to "scan the field" and how much that can be improved. few of those dudes are getting to their third read in college.

Justin Fields looks like he's staring at his receiver and late on so many throws because Ohio State runs so many damn WR-read routes and he has to wait for them to make a decision, sometimes 15 yards down the field.

saw another stat from PFF, in the NFL QBs throw to their 1st read 66% of their time lol. Going through progressions is important but understanding what a QB is actually asked to do and how often a NFL QB throws to their 1st read needs to be brought up.
