Justin Fields QB - Ohio State

Yes, going from that performance to his 2020 is indeed falling off.

Blake Bortles, Nick Foles, Josh Freeman, etc. There's a long list of guys that had a good season or two and then fizzled out. QBing is difficult. Consistency is the true testament of success, not a flash-in-the-pan season.

Off topic but how wild is that Blake Bortles threw 35 TDs, 4.4k yards and rushed for over 250 yards in his Sophomore season? This was with the worst OL in the league with him being the most sacked QB and zero running game. LOL that doesn't even seem real. I vividly remember the discussion of him being in rare air with Kurt Warner and Dan Marino.

Poor Jag's fans thought they had the QB position addressed for the next decade after 2015.

Blake Bortles is a poor example imo anyone who watched him knew he wasn't a good QB. He was over drafted.

Dude completed less than 60% of his passes that yr (ranked 31st). He was 23rd in QB rating, He was 4th worst in INT % and was sacked over 50xs.

He just threw the ball a s**t load.
According to Middlekauff, the word out of Jacksonville was that Bortles was lazy, didn't want to study or improve and spent most of his time partying. That tape doesn't lie. Dude was crazy talented--he had all the tools. He was massive yet mobile and kept plays alive with his feet, dropped dimes and ripped tight window throws behind the worst OL in the league.

All I'm saying is QBing is hard and there is a long list of guys that have had a good season or two and fizzled out, so I would slow down with crowning Justin Herbert or Josh Allen, although Justin Herbert's season in particular is remarkably impressive for a rookie. Let's see them run it back and repeat their success. That's what the Rodgers, Bradys, Brees, etc of the football world do every single season, and I don't know about you guys, but that's what I'm ultimately looking for in a QB: Consistency.

Mariota's "fall" was before injuries

He brought the Titans in 2017 then week one in 2018 had an elbow injury and got concussed a couple times no? I still think he's a good QB just couldn't stay healthy. He looked pretty good this yr when he got to play in LV.

I remember Blake Bortles on a podcast saying he didn't even know how to throw a football properly lol. He was never very accurate. Arob was out there jumping for passes all day

I agree it's hard, that's why you need to invest into it. That's something overall SF has lacked doing for the better part of two decades.

consistency starts with availability & we don't even have that

Availability, for sure, is one facet of consistency. After all, that's one of the reasons why were here discussing QBs. Damn you, Jimmy.

His best year, was 2016. Was downhill after that

He seems like a good fit for Matt Rhule in Carolina.

Seems like a good fit for any team that needs a QB
Interesting discussion on Haberman and Middlekauff about the 49ers possibly going after Justin Fields. Also, Middlekauff, who used to work for the Eagles and keeps in close contact with Howie Roseman, mentions that as things stand right now, he doesn't believe the Eagles will go after a QB. Good to know.

Any man over the age of 30 that regularly wears a backward baseball cap is a d-bag.

[Not serious.]
