But everything at this point is perception. Fields hasn't dropped at all. If he falls then I'm sure there are legit reasons why. Lance punches holes into the prejudices theory imo.

Ain't no way this guy falls to Tampa

Ain't no way he's falling to Atlanta
We're back to race.

True. If three QBs going first then Fields will be one of them

Better man than me. Pretend Fields was white, and tell me you think anyone would be saying the things they're saying about him. He'd be the #1 overall pick, even over Lawrence.

When in doubt, cry racism.

I'm not crying racism. But you can't tell me that prejudices and biases aren't playing a part in the evaluation of Fields, Lance, and Jones. We've seen this movie many times before.

Really? Yeah, we have seen this many times before...

Steve McNair was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 1995 NFL Draft
Donvavan McNab, Achilles Smith, Daunte Culpepper went 2,3, and 7 in the 1999 NFL draft
Michael Vick was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft
Byron Leftwich was selected with the 7th overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft 2nd quarter back taken behind Carson Palmer
Vince Young was selected with the third overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft (1st QB Taken)
JaMarcus Russell was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft
Cam Newton was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft
RGIII was selected with the 2nd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft behind Andrew Luck
EJ Manuel was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft (1st QB Taken)
Jameis Winston was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft
Kyler Murray was selected with the 1st overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft

Are you trying to make the case that people in the NFL are immune to biases and prejudices? Lol.

Not at all. But to say that every year is biased, the facts speak for themselves.

When did I say "every year is biased?" If there is a CLEAR top pick at the QB position who is black, they go in the top picks. I'm talking about when it's close, is when you start hearing the nonsense we're hearing this year.

What point are you trying to make? Do you think Jones is better than Fields and/or Lance?

Right, people here try to paint this kind of stuff as cut and dry or for lack of a better phrase, in shades of black and white. It's much more nuanced than that. When they exist, these biases manifest themselves more as just an extra thumb on the scale making it slightly easier for some prospects and harder for others, but they're rarely insurmountable and a prospect that is clearly the best is going to get drafted at the top no matter what.

Must be nice to live in a world where race doesn't matter.

I still say all this Mac Jones and Trey Lance talk is major smoke screen. This is all for the fans so there is a big surprise and excitement on draft night. I believe the sources are throwing this out on purpose. Why would they put this out now?? Makes no sense. Unless it is Fields.

I have seen a huge number of posters claim that all this is media nonsense and a smoke screen....

But no one who has made that claim has been able to answer this question: What is the upside/point of creating this smokescreen?

If the top 2 go like how we think we could end up getting our "FAVORITE ONE."

-Kyle Shanahan
If they take Fields, hats off to the FO for all that smoke. All of the talking heads saying most likely Jones, but if not, then it is Lance.

It's not just perception. There are actual statements being made by those in and connected to the league, which then permeate through respective fanbases, including ours. You have people in the Jones thread echoing that he's the smartest QB who ever lived and saying that Fields and Lance are slow to process. Which is just ridiculous and not backed up by the tape or advanced statistics.

The only legit knock on Feilds is he's slow off his first read. Folks try to play it off as his first read was always open, but the film don't lie.

Favorite one. Favorite 1.
Favorite

that word play by Kyle would make his favorite rapper proud.

I was still pretty confident we were drafting fields until yesterday. It's not the media noise, kyle def seemed to be in defensive mode because of the flack about potentially drafting mac at 3. Really hope I'm wrong. I still have hope, but it's not as strong as before. Kyle is a master actor/troller if fields is the pick.

I agree, he seemed to make like the guy he wanted at 12 is worth it at 3. I just gotta believe that he is going after someone he believes he had no shot at at 12.

Do you understand that the offense he was in at OSU is predicated on option routes? So he has HAS to stay on the primary read to allow the WR to make his choice on his route.

Ben Allbright on twitter is saying he sees Fields falling out of the top 10.

Opinions all over the place.

Collinsworth prefaced it with he doesn't have inside info. I think that's the disconnect. People with "sources" are all getting fed the same thing, but Kyle and John don't want to reveal who they are taking so how credible can the sources be?

That could have been anybody. There were rumors that Carolina was going to take him, then they went the Sam Darnold route a safety net. It still may happen.
