I'm sure the offensive line isn't doing him any favors, but when you take that many sacks, YOU are a huge part of the problem. For example, Andy Dalton behind that same line has taken 5 sacks in 73 attempts - one sack for every 14.6 attempts

Fields was my preference in the draft. Does this guy just have zero pocket awareness or something? My god.

From what I've seen it's a mix of a few problems. Not understanding his own protections is the first thing you'll notice. Next his play caller doesn't move him around much and does minimal protection. 5 wide makes reads easier but it also opens your QB to free rushers. Fields processing speed was his main issue coming into the draft and the Bears OC decides to run 5 wide for the easy reads but it still takes quick processing. His O line isn't good fore sure but ultimately it's a cluster f**k and Fields is not innocent in the sack numbers and I'd say he's the main reason for it but definitely not the only reason.

If he scrambles and gets caught behind the LOS that's technically a sack. You may recall him scrambling away from Armstead vs us and housing it. If Armstead makes the play there that's a sack. So yeah more sacks but there's some reward there as well. Russell Wilson we've all seen his crazy scrambles he's always taken high sacks. Different players but a similar phenomenon at work.

I do think these elusive mobile QBs have some overconfidence in their ability to escape/make the first guy miss and that also contributes to the higher sack numbers.

Absolutely. Also, even if you do elude and make the first guy miss, you might get sacked by the second guy 4 seconds into the play. The more you move around, the longer your offensive line has to block.

That also brings holding into play. By making lineman suddenly change block angles
He's struggled per his predraft critiques. There were questions about his processing speed and predictions that he'd take a lot of sacks in the NFL. This has proven to be true. Not to say he can't improve recognition/decision-making, but it was the #1 reason I didn't want Fields and it has shown early and often in the NFL.

It hasn't been proven. This is a lazy conclusion from someone who hasn't watched a Bears game or done his research. Nice try, though.

He's already had a 9 sack game and 3 Int game. He's got a 2:1 ratio on Int's vs Td's.

Numbers are cool but dont tell the entire story. Do you question Lawrence's processing too? How about Wilson?

Lawrence is showing something on a Horrible team, literally expansion level talent. Fields is bad on a team that went to the playoffs last year with Trubisky. Wilson is playing like trash even on a bad team.

This is proof that you have no idea what you're talking about. You think the Bears are a playoff ready team? Seriously, why even debate with someone so willfully ignorant?

Thanks, have a good night!

Bears were in the playoffs in 2020. You sure hate facts.
He lost as I would expect him to do vs Aaron Rodgers. The last pick was 4th down so they had to force it. But overall he showed a lot of good things.

What is clear is if you wanted an athletic QB this is the guy. He runs faster, throws a more accurate ball, throws with more power, throws on the run better than a certain other athletic QB I can think of. It's not close guys. As of right now he looks way better.

Jalen Hurts? Yeah I agree

He'll be fine. They had no chance of beating the Packers. I just wish their offense had more consistency so we could see him really shine. Once again, all of the rookies outside of Mac are really struggling.
