Rashawn Slater - OL

Anyways, resign Williams, draft Slater and Humphrey or a 3rd rounder to learn from Mack for a year or lock it in for good by buying Lindsey and expect Mike McGlinchey to play his ass off in a contract year. Slater starts at RT in 2022.

Line. Fixed.

Still have Tomlinson and McG on the team.

If we somehow get outbid for Trent Williams this is a must pick and we need double dip on the line including a stud center...and I'm good with that as long as we address an Edge in FA and secondary help in the draft. Interesting how this free agency and draft play out this year.

I also don't want to sign mack, so that's probably it I'd go for broke on Lindsley if he's at all available. I suppose if we do end up with Mack, then yes you do need a developmental guy behind him.

Yes.

That worked out so well in the SB too. Do you think he's gotten Chris Jones's cleatmarks off his face yet? It wasn't just Garland's fault but his experience did nothing to help.

I've never understood what is up with this place and talking up mediocre veteran players. You really think a decent center prospect is going to be that much worse than a guy who has been a bottom tier player his entire career?

I think I love you. Happy belated Valentine's Day.
This is no different than never understanding what is with this place and thinking you can simply replace a veteran NFL player who has stuck in the league with a rookie draft pick. Or never understanding people who think the front office is a failure if you don't have only probowl caliber players as the backups to a roster full of only all pro caliber players.

I understand wanting a developmental peice behind a guy like Mack, but even then you probably want to take a guy who can also play guard and keep Garland anyway. But to just assume that Garland is such a scrub (he's actually a very capable backup) who can be replaced by a complete unknown (draft pick) when we see how many draft picks just completely flame out the league is quite irresponsible.
A later round rookie center is not going to be out Mack, brunskill or garland. Save the pick for BPA and get a Udfa C on the PS
I think I'd play Slater at C. I know Coach would rather start a vet at C, but the time has come to invest in some solid draft picks so they can grow their own C and RG. Tomlinson's entering his contract season and has been pretty solid overall...he and Williams have formed a good left side of the OL. I see no problem signing Mack for a season to give Slater a good mentor, so he or whoever they draft can learn from one of the best.
If we don't re-sign Trent then linsley is someone we should go after.

Between Mack/Garland you have two capable starting centers who both know the scheme and aren't gonna cost a billion dollars. I'd even ask richburg to take the vet min and let him recover to see if he can come back at some pt.

They can draft someone like Kendrick Green in the 5th who's a scheme fit and pretty damn good. He can play every position on the inside. You have Colton who can play the swing tackle and RG. They also have Coleman who can play swing tackle as well.

I know but you can't fix everything in one year.

Most definitely. There's certainly more options at ER in FA this year...we mostly need a speed ER for <50% of the time. But that'll still cost. And Bosa is going to need plenty of breaks working his way back into full time duty.

I would imagine COVID rules might still apply and you'll need to keep 10 OL active anyhow so you'd still have 3 C's including a young protege and Garland. I don't think it's one or the other. Ideally, it's Lindsey + Garland and you use that pick somewhere else.

Tomlinson is gonna get an extension more than going to get replaced. McG needs to get his s**t together.

center is the #1 priority on the OL (so long Trent gets resigned)
