can draft him to play RG. Then go to RT once they release McGlinchey.

Might be more of a possibility now that the eagles will probably draft a qb

These types of selections happen a lot, but his success at the LT and RT positions, especially while pulling, shows he could be successful playing guard and center in a zone blocking scheme.
If he's so scheme versatile and can play all 5 positions. Not too mention TDN and DJ like him. Then why is he not the 1st pick in the draft if he is as great as you guys say he is?
That's my Mac Jones WZ hater voice
Just being facetious.
I personally wouldn't love the pick if it's for guard but whatevs. He'd be an OK replacement for Williams though if we lost him.

lol tell me why I understood the hater voice way before you mentioned it in the second line.
I personally think that after Trevor Lawrence, Penei Sewell is the 2nd best player in this draft. Right now, Slater's hype train is steaming now that he's being designated as arguable the best offensive lineman in the draft, ahead of Sewell, due to his versatility on the offensive line.

A few weeks ago it was rumored that Slater would be the 1st OT taken

I dont see them drafting a QB. I believe they will go WR to give Hurts more weapons. Chase or Smith will be an Eagle in my opinion.

I think no combine will destroy that, there's no question about Sewell's length or measurements.
When you consider that 2 inches of arm length could take him off some team's boards, they might not trust the measurements out of his Pro Day.

We can sign a veteran center and there is no need to draft a center in the 1st. Also, going with Brunskill and McKivitz at RG essentially hands the starting RT to Mike McGlinchey. He could bounce back, but should have some competition in camp. Justin Skule doesn't count as competition.
Drafting Rashawn Slater gives us versatility on so many levels. He has the skillset to potentially play guard and if everything works out, we'll have strongly upgraded in pass protection, while maintaining a strong run blocking O-line.

Who's available is irrelvant as the argument was, and should still be that picking a player to play a position that you don't know he can play that early should be a big no no. If you want him at LT/RT that's one thing. To select him in hopes to play guard isn't the best use of resources.

Indeed. I've stated my ideal line before. I'd like for us to be able to have adequate pass protection, at minimum, regardless of the performance of our run game. The way things are now, our pass protection works better when are run game works and our running game will likely work 12 games out of the season. But for the other games when we don't have a good to great run game to rely on, then what? The idea of running our offense on the hopes that everything will go right is asking for trouble.
LT- T. Williams/S. Coleman
LG- L. Tomlinson/C. McKivitiz
C- Alex Mack/rookie center to groom and take over/B. Garland
RG- R. Slater/B. Garland/C. McKvitiz
RT- M. McGlinchey/D. Brunskill
Everyone on the roster, save for Trent Williams would have at least one player that can either challenge them in camp as well as depth in the case of injury.
Now while Slater is my preference, there are some other options in the draft, but adding him would be like adding 3 players because of his versatility. Hoping that Kyle prioritizes the pass protection and pass protection that isn't dependent on our run game so that we can incorporate more deep passing as well as more 3, 4, and 5 receiving options on plays. Not necessarily 5 wide, but more of using the FB and RB along with the receivers and tight ends on passing plays more often.

This is my preferred starting line! I think it sets us up for success in the future as well and provides some insurance at RT with McGlinchey continues to suck.

I don't see the eagles drafting a QB at all...they have to cut half their team just to get under cap. They NEED a bunch of rookie contracts.
IMO they're one of the top teams that will do whatever to trade down. I see them bringing back foles or maybe signing brissett for dirt cheap.

If we're going to draft a QB. I foresee us trading with the Eagles to get our guy.

I've been so busy I'm still working on my first mock. By this time last year I think I had at least 3 out.

Wouldn't hate it.
We will know Williams' fate by the draft. But this is good McGlinchey insurance as well.
