Paying so many people and it some cases the wrong people, along with a shrinking cap is what did this. On a 200 million + cap, this is an easy deal to do.

My bad. I meant paying the right guys lately. I'm not saying they're penny-pinching. They've been making some dumbass moves recently. Paying Arik Armstead over Deforest Buckner was a disaster--period. There's no dancing around that one. They saved $4m APY. Terrible move. Our pass rush got significantly worse over that move. We have a massive hole at 3tech until Kinlaw reaches his ceiling, which doesn't appear will happen anytime soon. Dude is raw as hell. Restructuring Dee Ford was another dumb move.

Slater looks good, but I don't expect him to be as good as Trent Williams was. And this is assuming Trent Williams walks in FA, which isn't the case yet. There's still time to resign him.

Slater is the guy at 12 for me, and I'm drafting him to play tackle. Whether that's to replace Trent Williams or Mike McGlinchey in a year, that's where I want him. The only thing that changes things for me is if Kyle loves a QB. But this isn't the year to draft a pass rusher in the first round, so Slater is the guy.

Grant Cohn has access to all-22 college film. Wtf. Anyway, he's watching Slater right now. Slater kicked Chase Young's ass in 2018 as well.

He's a tackle, but initially he can help us at G.

If Williams doesn't re-sign he gets thrown in the deep end, but ideally we re-sign Williams, draft Slater to play G and can then assess McGlinchy and whether we need to bother re-signing him.

By the time he's due for a new contract he'll be able to slot in for Williams.

Sounds easy so won't work out that way, but can always hope.

No on Slater no matter how good he is.

We need a ****ing 1st round QB. Must resign T. Williams so we aren't forced to go OT in the 1st.

Fields/Wilson/Jones/Lance IDGAF which one. Jimmy is going to get hurt and we need a blue-chip QB waiting to take his job. No Mond/Trask b******t.

They paid players on their terms. If they overpay for someone it would be a FB lol.

pay your own.

If the Niners dont take a QB then Slater has to be the guy. Sign Williams, play Slater at RG for now and then move him outside to RT after we dump McGlinchey after this year. The OL has to be a top priority for this team.

Well Sewell isn't working with him so there's that. Still Slater is a day one starter.
