2. Slater
3. trade down

So what makes Williams so difficult to beat? Bosa provided a detailed and illuminating answer. Bosa recently noted shorter offensive tackles can give him more problems. Williams, listed at 6-foot-5 and 320 pounds, is just 1 inch taller than Bosa.
"He's honestly not as tall as I thought he was going to be, which kind of makes it more difficult because he's got a really low center of gravity," Bosa said. "And it's tough to power him and get underneath him, which is something that I like to use to my advantage. For him, he plays so low to the ground and he bends so well, so he's never really up high and exposing himself to power.

"I see him as Zack Martin," said one scout. "He may not be as good, but Zack could play tackle. I see Slater more as a right tackle, but I think he'd be a special guard and a good left tackle. He's not going to disappoint."
Started at right tackle in 2017 and '18 and at left tackle in '19 before opting out. "Very smart, fast processor," a second scout said. "Got really good hands. Understands angles. There are very few issues in pass (protection). He held up pretty well against Chase Young (in 2019). He opted out because he was thinking about coming out last year. He'll be way better inside."

Same for me but only because I know we can't get Zach Wilson. I alternate daily on who I like more between Fields and Lance but no question would trade up to secure either

I agree. My fear is that Fields, Lance, and Slater will all be gone by 12. Fields to Atlanta, Lance to Carolina, and Slater to Dallas. If that happens I really do hope we move down and get another 2nd rd pick.

If that happens, I pray Chicago or Washington panics and sends a haul to move up for Jones. You can almost bank on 3 QBs, 3 WRs, 2 CBs, 1 TE and 1 OT going in the top 11. Really curious on what the the Lions and Giants decide to do.
we passed on Wirfs and traded back last year and with LAC picking after us, while I don't want it to happen, I can see that happening again.
Originally posted by martysofresh:The Niners would love this as they would likely have their pick of Lance or Slater. But I doubt that happens now. I'm not sure that 2 CBs go off the board as well as 3 WRs are gone when the 49ers select.

I don't think this guy will be available at 12. If so, I would be happy with him as the pick. I'm still hoping Trent Williams gets re-signed and they could bump this kid in at RG. It's possible he could supplant McGlinchey at RT if the struggles continue. I would say put this kid at LG but Tomlinson does ok there and he might not be able to play RG as well. If it's not broke don't fix it, although the unit as a whole needs a makeover.
Something like this would be bad ass for next year:
LT: Williams
LG: Tomlinson
C: Mack
RG: Slater
RT: McGlinchey
