I don't think he has the traits you want in an OL at 12. Isaiah Wynn went 23 overall. I think Slater could go in a similar spot with a strong combine.

If we were to get Stafford with say a 2021/2022 2nd and moved down a couple spots in the 1st, I'd be all for Slater...he fits this scheme and will be a day one starter at RG and can take over at RT if they move off McG.

Wouldn't dare get my hopes up for a pick like this, but I'd love to see it.

You may be a happy man come draft day!
I could be full of ish... But this is where I would be if I was picking:
Wait to see picks 1, 2... is Wilson there? Yes, cool, lets talk and see if we can make a fair deal at 3, not gonna happen tho.
Pick 4, Call... is it a fair deal... if so pull the trigger, but we won't be the only one... and I BELIEVE... I could be wrong, but other teams will be offering more. Jimmy is not great, but he's not so bad that you mortgage the next 2 drafts.
If by some crazy multiverse.. Wilson passes by 4, and ATL passes or doesn't trade, I think #6 is another option, because Cinci will take Sewell, we make the call and this is the highest chance we get at Wilson. If it doesn't happen... I think we will wait till our pick unless Wilson continues to be available which won't happen.
If Farley is there are #12 we take him and jump around....If not then we run our card down Rashawn Slater's name and high five because we have both a pro bowl OG and future OT if needed depending on the future.
But again I'm buzzed and happy

Can kick inside in the first year, and maybe move to RT once we cut McGlinchey. And if he ends up being really good, maybe replace Trent in like 6 years. It would make a lot of sense.

Slater can play virtually anywhere on the OL, making him pretty valuable. He's the 2nd ranked C in Walter Football, played RT at Northwestern but likely would be kicked inside to C or RG. Either way, he'd be a big step in the right direction of grooming OL vice FA.

Usually I'm against getting two rookie OL start the same year, but this team really needs to solidify the unit and this class is excellent to do so.
We fill the C and RG position in one go. You also keep Ben Garland and Brunskill for depth thanks to their versatility.
I like it. Also give the team flexibility related to McGlinch after next season

IF we don't go QB, Paye is gone and we can't move back...Slater would be my pick, as of right now. Can play every position on the line. I think he could end up as a RT but the arm length is a bit of a question mark on the outside.
I think the plan would be to put him at RT in a yr if McG doesn't improve.
Fits the scheme like a glove. Day 1 starter imo. Maybe NC and GM would calm down for a hot min if he was the pick

If he was the pick, calming down would be the last thing NC does lol

I know, zone corners, but there's no way in taking a guard over a top CB. Wouldn't be mad at Slater, but would be shaking my head

well I think the intention would be RT of the future. He can play center or OG as well. He's just a damn good lineman end of the day.
I also don't see either top CB making it to 12. Personelly I haven't watch a ton of either guy, just because I don't think SF will go CB at 12 end of the day. Scheme doesn't require it.
We will see, IMO it's still QB or bust lol.
