If you're going to sign Mack in FA, you want someone that is going to be able to take over for him eventually developing behind him. Garland is not and never will be a starting caliber center in this league.

That worked out so well in the SB too. Do you think he's gotten Chris Jones's cleatmarks off his face yet? It wasn't just Garland's fault but his experience did nothing to help.
I've never understood what is up with this place and talking up mediocre veteran players. You really think a decent center prospect is going to be that much worse than a guy who has been a bottom tier player his entire career?

You can draft a IOL in the mid rds that can compete with Garland and RG. I'm with ya Garland is a damn good backup. He can play both IOL spots as well.
someone like Kendrick Green is interesting on day 3

Jones was killing everyone on the interior. This was after Grady Jarrett wrecked both Garland and Person.
Do people honestly believe that it was a coincidence that the pass blocking inside went to crap when Richburg got injured? You always expect a drop-off from starter to backup but that was one hell of a drop-off.
Since that injury, center has been such a big weakness that I wouldn't be mad if they signed Mack and then drafted a center in the 2nd and played them at right guard until Mack retired.

Josh Myers or Creed Humphrey in round 2 and there you have a Center.

Great point. Knowing the Shanahans IOL never get drafted early. If they like him as a T perhaps they take him at 12

Dude he's a freaking backup lol. You're acting in this scenario Garland is the 16 game starter and not a cheaper end backup who knows the offense and can start a couple games.
you're not drafting a center top 44 if you sign Mack. I don't even think there's a center worth drafting at 44 outside of Dickerson who's a walking injury in his own right

I would be shocked if we have a rookie starting at C next season. Absolutely shocked

I'd be shocked if they spent a top 44 pick on a center (in this draft) if they signed Mack.

If Mike puts it together in the offseason that's a solid line ones the rookies adjust to the NFL. If not you can plug Brunskill who did a great job at OT.
Slater can take over RT once Mike rookie deal is done.
I'd rather see Brunskill over McG. But other than that, it's a beastly o line.
