Lance will be facing tougher teams twice a year but he also has far better talent and a really good play designer.

Going to a Belichick and McDaniels coached team isn't a terrible consolation prize. New England has a strong defense, very good OL, decent run game, upgraded their offense with the tight ends and receivers they signed. Of the five QB's drafted in the first, its easily one of the two best situations for a young QB to go into.

I think you could argue reasonably that Lawrence is going into the worst situation overall and there's going to be a ton expected from him on virtue of being the #1 pick and this generational sort of QB prospect.

The only thing about Belichick is he doesn't have a good record of drafting offensive talent. It's one reason Brady left. They won with a good defense and a ball control game. Of course Brady sure did his part and playing in that weak division didn't hurt. It will be interesting to see how Belichick does now that the other teams in the division are getting better coaches and better QBs.

The only legit talent they got on offense besides Brady was Gronk. Brady made lesser talents like Edelman, Amendola, Hogan, James White and others. The OL had the luck to be coached by Dante who was the greatest OL coach, who is now retired.
Every SB they won in NE they had a top 10 defense. Now their defense is coming back to strenght, some injured guys coming back, some injured and opt outs as well, they added some FA. I expect their defense to be good, the offense with Cam or Mac the palindrome names not so much.

Michael Lombardi is mad because he was wrong about the 49ers drafting Jones.

I told Lombardi to stay sucker free , but he didn't listen
He was not happy, but then was and his gate to the stage made that clearly obvious.
Scot McCloughan had a 3rd rd grade on him...

Good. Lombardi was being a little b***h throughout the pre-draft process bragging about "his sources"

And referred to him as a perennial back up
The Saints nearly got Jones, had a tradeup deal in place with Arizona in case New England passed on him.

Belichick and McDaniels liked what they saw, but they still needed some luck to get Jones in the draft. After he fell past the San Francisco 49ers at No. 3 and the Carolina Panthers at No. 8, the New Orleans Saints began calling teams about trading up from No. 28, according to a source. The Saints couldn't find anyone who wanted to move back that far, but they had a deal in the works to get No. 16 from the Arizona Cardinals — one pick too late.

I think the Saints are better off without him. They can get a QB in two years.

We'll see. Jones would have fit in well there too with the offense they run, their OL, the receivers they have and playing in a dome the vast majority of games each year. Its not like Drew Brees ever had a cannon.
