How many teams are desperate for a young QB?

Using Tankathon:

1. NY Jets - New coach won't be tied to Darnold
2. NY Giants - Daniel Jones
3. Jacksonville - Gardner Minshew
4. Miami (from Houston) - Tua
5. Dallas - Looks like another Franchise Tag for Dak
6. Atlanta - Ryan has a HUGE deal, but only if they commit to a rebuild
7. Washington -- Obvious
8. Chargers - Herbert
9. New England - Obvious
10. Minnesota - they doubled down on Captain Kirk, if Zimmer is fired all bets are off
11. Cincinnati - Burrow
12. Carolina - Bridgewater is just a bridge
13. Detroit - Stafford is still in his prime, but there will probably be a regime change there
14. Denver - Drew Lock is showing some signs of life
15. San Francisco

The 49ers may only win 1 or 2 games the rest of the way, the way things stand now, but I could say the same for a lot of the teams ahead of them in the draft order.

Can Washington catch the Eagles?

3. Jacksonville - Gardner Minshew

Gardner Minshew isn't going to stop the Jaguars from drafting a potential franchise quarterback. if they have a shot at Fields or maybe even Wilson, I think they take it, use Minshew as trade bait down the road.

5. Dallas - Looks like another Franchise Tag for Dak

Dallas could keep Dak or simply opt to walk away and save a crapload of money with a rookie passer, money that they'll need considering the shrinking cap.

The 49ers path to a QB either means they need to make a massive trade up offer that hopefully a team already with a QB like the Giants are willing to accept or they stand pat and go with someone like a Mac Jones if they opt to draft a QB early.

If Shanahan and Lynch are serious about upgrading the QB position, they could possibly find a trade partner with the Dolphins for the 1st rounder of Houstons they own. Even if we're in the top 10 draft wise but Miami is ahead of us because of Houston's pick we could offer them a nice trade package so we can move up a few spots to grab Wilson because he'd be worth that for the future of the franchise. Just a thought.

Geez looking at this, I'm thinking differently and in the belief that it would be wise to maybe trade up & get Wilson vs staying at a pick around 15+.

That's if the Niners want a QB. I know most of us fans really want one and I think we'd be foolish not to draft a QB in the first round. Yet we need to look at this regimes drafting history.
I will be honest and say I have zero faith in the mgmt to draft a QB in rd 1. They'll probably go OL or CB.
I could honestly see us lose out this year with the amount of injuries we've had. Realistically we'll win a couple due to our strong coaching but I think we can crack top 10 and look to trade up depending on draft order.

Agreed. At that point it will be if Kyle sees a QB worth trading up in the first and if Lynch can get the deal done.

Honestly, they should do whatever it takes to grab one of the top prospects imo. Miami owns Houston's pick in the 1st round, and they've got Tua so I'm sure they'd be open to trading that pick. Even if we are in the top 10, moving up a few spots to grab Wilson or Lance would be worth it instead of just hoping he falls to them. Team needs a young FQB that is accurate and has a good arm.

Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields could be gone within the top 5. Trey Lance or Zach Wilson is more realistic with a trade up. If they stay put between 10-15. Kyle Trask or Mac Jones could be options. IMO, I would love for us to draft Zach Wilson.

Miami, Chargers and Bengals all need to be removed from the 1st round QB list. They're not taking a QB early
I legit think we will have to trade up to 5-8 to get Wilson or Lance

Of the two, Wilson seems more polished. I haven't seen much of Trey Lance though, so I could be wrong. I think Shanahan would like Wilson more though since he's great in and out of the pocket.

yes that takes 3 spots out of trading up.
It would be easier to list the teams that wouldn't. Just look at the Packers drafting Love last year. Teams want a young guy in the waiting.

Not looking in 1st rd:
Seattle
Bengals
Chargers
Miami
Cardinals
Chiefs
Packers
Texans
Ravens
Bills

Probably not:
Broncos
Giants
Browns
Eagles
