Whats Tron's projected round ?
Ive seen mocks with him in 2nd rd
So he could make this team. Anyone better than him and that could land with us on in round 2?

Recently seen him mocked late 1st, I see a lot of trench players going 20-40, loads of OL prospects meeting needs, a trade down and then back up might be the way to go, very talented part of the draft it seems.

Yup I think the top 100 has a s**t ton of talent. The drop off isn't that bad. Good thing SF has a ton of mid rd picks that they can use to move around. Some guys are gonna fall through the cracks as well because of scheme dependence

I hear that, would be costly if we gave them all to trade up for a QB, I mean getting the right one is obviously goal #1, just comes with a price.
is the talent in draft good enough to not even think about trading up for a QB or even trading for Watson if available?

Reading some of the options we can draft and sign (FA) is getting me on the fence of not wanting a new QB at all

It seems very likely the Niners cut both Dee Ford & Weston Richburg after 1 June...that will yield @ $15M they can spend on other players. Given that, taking Rousseau or Paye at #12 makes some sense. I know a number of fans would say, "what, another DL in the 1st rd". In a word, yes. We just witnessed how valuable a relentless pass rush is in the SB on Sunday. Bookending Bosa with either of these guys could restore the pass rush they enjoyed in 2019. Kinlaw should continue his development toward being a wrecking ball next season, so our front would again be lethal.

Not exactly. If they're still injured, the 49ers have to eat their entire deal.

The talent as depth at the positions we need to upgrade, you can move some early picks for a QB and still get some good young prospects

I'm hoping both sides can come to an injury settlement that frees up cap space. This is a great time to have it, for sure. Oh yeah I have to my favorite draft thread.

That's not entirely accurate, I think we're already slightly behind the 8 ball without our original 3rd round pick, a lot of talent in that area of the draft.

QB is priority #1, but it's absolutely an opportunity cost. Saying that, there's still been issues with Covid hit seasons, opt outs, and no combine so the evaluations may be off more than usual.

This is where a quality scouting staff makes an impact. Before the combines, every team did their own scouting operation thing, before the idea of a combine to reduce duplication of effort. For a long time the 49ers didn't join a combine, until (I think) the NFL made it kind of mandatory.

A good scout will do good evaluations, he doesn't have to be in a combine for a good scout to see talent.

Oh yeah, for my favorite draft thread.🤪

No Joe Tryon love?
There's some Tryon chat a few pages back, I've tried to watch more of him, but there's not many decent Pac12 games around.

I'm impressed how much he gets doubled, and how many plays he makes despite that. I like quite a few of these edge guys, but not sure I like any to be picked ahead of the OL in the 2nd yet for me.

I like the way he goes for the strip sack and avoids penalty situations

Only if it's Slater for me, but that would be awesome

It really sucks that there won't be a combine(right?). The best way to find the gem edge rushers is to find the guys with the good 10-yard split/3-cone/short shuttle and watch their tape. If they've get off+hand use+football IQ, we're cooking.

I need some damn combine numbers.
