2021 edge rush prospects

These guys have millions on the line. I wouldn't rule out any f**kery. That's the problem with not having everyone at one designated neutral location being timed with the same devices.

Yeah these numbers are all b******t.

I mean if it was laser timed
Like I said we'll see if he can replicate on pro day with much more eyes

He's been talked about as a freak for a while...reports were 4.4s which is stupid at 255lbs.

The 40 times are often inflated even at a normal combine. I'm not saying the times aren't accurate but many of the linemen and LBs will drop some weight before running in order to shave a little time off. Then they bulk back up for the strength testing. Guys that big can easily drop 10-15 lbs in a day or two. Boxers often add 10-15 lbs the same day they weigh in. I think they are way over hyped. Even with the receivers we see players who run 4.28 but don't play fast of the field.

This has been going on for over a decade now. That doesn't change the fact that everyone is forced to run in the same environment using the same devices.

Guys used to go out and just run, do the events and move on. Now there's a whole cottage industry of facilities where college players go just to train for the Combine and max out their numbers on the various tests.

Yup all true, and everyone would do the same because it's a fact that better numbers improve draft position which improves that bank account.
Owehs time didn't look 4.3x at all. 4.45 at best, and likely 4.5s. still a great time tho

Now where is it more evident that the broad jump and vertical tests where everyone is using the same technique and warm up.

Its always been a bit silly, especially when you consider the built-in advantage that guys with track backgrounds have.
I've always hated the combine, for me it's a measure of a kids work ethic, but not a great indicator of on field athleticism.

Some of the drills don't even measure what they're supposed to, the bench press is a test of muscle stamina but has almost 0 correlation to how strong you are.

If I were a GM I'd pay all the money at my disposal to get these kids GPS data, and employ someone very smart to analyse and compare it to situations.

No but not everyone is going to drop weight. I'm just saying that I am often skeptical of some 40 times in a normal year. This year where they are doing it at different venues makes them even more questionable. Game film will be more important this year than ever.

The combine is a job interview and the one on one talks are the most important part. You can learn as much about a player who can't check into their hotel room or go to a medical checkup without problems as you can from a 40 yard dash.
Anyone know about Max Roberts ? From BC..
