Trevor Lawrence has bear paws.

I´m so ready for John and Kyle drafting an edge rusher in the first round and wait in the fifth round to draft a QB.

Desmond Ridder might be available in the 5th, a great project for KS to mold. At worst he can be a better backup than Mullens and Beathard. The 5th is also their money round.

What do ppl think of this kid ?

Last year he was a potential 1st rd pick, haven't watched much of him. Just wondering where you think he'll end up.

He sure beat them ducks
This is from Matt Barrows last article, sounds like out of all the QBs in 2017, they invested the most time with Watson.

"Lynch, Scangarello, and Martin Mayhew and Adam Peters — Lynch's top two lieutenants — went on the road to watch North Carolina's Mitch Trubisky and Notre Dame's DeShone Kizer at their pro days, and they also had a private workout with Clemson's Deshaun Watson. Watson, in fact, may have received the most attention from the 49ers of all the quarterbacks that year. He also visited them before the draft."

I remember this. My top guys in that draft were Watson and mahomes. Probably one of the few times I personally nailed my qb draft rankings. Wonder how much relevance this would have now? In terms of a possible Watson interest.

I remembering loving Mahomes never seen anyone throw the ball like him. But thought that no way Kyle likes/takes him so never put too much thought into him
I'm not as tuned into this as some of you so can someone give me the cliff-notes:

QB - my general understanding of the player - cost
  • Zach Wilson - great arm, good instincts, smaller than you'd like but not a huge issue - probable would require multiple 1st round picks and more to trade up for,
  • Trey Lance - raw, but excellent arm and athleticism, has a chance to be the best QB of the class - probably a minor trade up or available at our pick,
  • Justin Fields - good arm and athleticism, good/not great size, but also high "floor" - probably would require multiple 1st round picks and more to trade up for,
  • Mac Jones - good arm talent, good size, not as athletic as the other three - probably will be available with our pick,
  • Other drafted QBs (maybe a trade down / 2nd round pick / etc.),
  • FA (Stafford, Watson, Wentz, etc.) - Watson would be the only obvious improvement, assuming Jimmy is healthy for 2021 - costs could be dramatic, especially for Watson, or
  • Stick with Jimmy and maybe draft a future QB / backup.

Makes it worse. Saw the guy and said no. Hopefully they've grown.

Hindsight is always 20/20. In context it was their first year all together in a class that wasn't considered at the time to be a strong qb class(though I personally thought it was a little better than people thought). They were probably gun shy in terms of taking a qb, but I bet they have learned their lesson. This might be the first year since that year that they are considering a qb in the 1st round. Nothing that they have said so far has inspired confidence that jimmy is here next year. Unless we somehow get Watson, if we think a qb in this draft is the guy, I think we pull the trigger.

If you can't upgrade through a off season trade, this is the yr to move up and get your guy

The words "Smoke and mirrors" mean anything to you?? After all the 49ers had Mitch Trubisky as the highest rated passer in the 2017 draft.
