Nice post... Just a reminder...one of the qualities that sold Bill Walsh on Joe Montana was his footwork. This is a very important quality for a QB and one that is underrated IMHO. When a QB doesn't reach his potential (such as Kaepernick for example), it is often because this skill is not developed.

This is one of the reasons I like Lance so much. He has got all the tools (arm, athleticism, leadership ability, and footwork). Yes, he is inexperienced so you sit him for a year or two to assimilate Kyle's offense and then you have a stud. This would be my ideal number one pick. Trade up if you have to but get this kid.

Who do we like as some of the bigger upside day 2 QB prospects? Assuming Wilson, Fields, Lance are gone at 12 and we go in another direction.

Jamie Newman probably fits this description best. Some might throw Mond or Book out there, but they're definitely day 3 for me.

Mond, although he's more late 3rd to mid 4th for me. Fix that stupid hitch in his throwing motion and you might have a decent QB. He certainly didn't do anything to hurt himself at the Senior Bowl.

Also Davis Mills who I think will go earlier than expected. The talent and physical ability is all there, he just needs to stay healthy.

I could see us taking Mond in the 5th if he's still there which I doubt happens, probably a late 3rd now.

Newman struggled a bit but has tools for sure so I could see Newman being an option for us. I wanted Book to show up better but he doesn't have good field vision which is a massive downgrade for me.

This could not have been a more horrible week. First Mac Jones places himself out of our reach. Then Stafford gets traded elsewhere.

A part of me is now on board with trading up for Wilson or Jones. Then the other part is telling me don't force the hand. Fold em and wait for the next hand.

IMO, trade down a couple times. Build up OL both starters and depth. Grab a pair of edge rushers. Replenish the secondary while adding some day 3 offensive weapons.

Having a great supporting cast and replenishing our depth will go a longer way to helping the team than 1 QB. We can succeed with lesser QBs until we find our guy.

If Mac Jones is gone before 12, so be it. Not losing sleep over that one. I like Mac, but even at 12, I do a double take.
