QB Class 2021

QB is so tough in round 1. From 2009 to 2016 22 qb's were drafted and ZERO, nada are with drafting team. Throw in the Texans and Jets qb's getting shopped, and it is a risky business. That being said QB is the computer chip of the team. Keep drafting and praying.

I feel like this is misleading.

Andrew Luck retired. Stafford gave the Lions a lot of good years. Newton gave the Panthers and MVP season and a Super Bowl appearance, and several good years. Tannehill may not be with the Dolphins, but he's still a quality QB and has done well in Tennessee.

Not all of these guys have been bad players. A lot of them were really good, but the organizations mismanaged them. I think even if we ignore the GOOD QBs that have come out of the first round the last three years (Mahomes, Watson, Allen, Jackson, Herbert, Murray, Burrow), you're still looking at almost a fifty-fifty shot of getting a quality quarterback with a first round pick.

It's worth the risk. And in fact, it's a necessary risk until you get one, IMHO.

Oh, and let me add those odds are likely to go up, because the NFL is gradually incorporating a lot of the college game into their systems.
If there's a guy I'd trade the farm for though, it's Wilson. What's not to love? Someone tell me.

Presumably, just the price. It's going to come down to how much the other teams want him, and how much we want him, compared to how much Kyle likes the other QBs—including ol' Jimmy Gorgeous. Some complicated calculus for sure—and we're just not privy to those things obviously (what the other teams are asking for in trade, Kyle's evaluations/rankings of Jimmy and the QBs in this class). I'd be stoked if it happens, but not gonna get my hopes up

Thank you! And the odds continue to drop the later you spend picks on the position.

it's common sense.

Wilson is quite possibly one of the best fits for our team. My only concern is the cost to move up, his 2019 season being inconsistent and the injuries he had.

The irony is that he was missing alot of his offensive lineman in 2019 too. This year they were all healthy and the 2nd best group. Was his success due to that OL?

What if he just got better?

That for sure is possible
I just watched a YouTube video analyzing Jamie Newman. Strong arm, decisive. Did great before Surrat went down in 2019. Before opting out last year he was highly regarded and looks like an interesting prospect in round 3 or 4. Who knows what he would have looked like at Georgia this past season. Could have been a consensus top 10 pick, but now a relatively unknown mid rounders with tremendous upside?

I was very disappointed to hear he opted out. I was excited to see how he'd play in Georgia's offense, but reports leaked that he opted out because he was losing the QB battle to JT Daniels.

I have him QB7. Would take him over Mond. But very concerning that his production was almost completely dependant on Surrat, who bailed him out at times.

Not to mention the route he took when he realized he would be battling Daniels for the starting QB job.

I love Zach Wilson, and I'd bet fairly heavily on him.

I do worry about a few things though, he's got that hero mentality that may get him killed in the league with his frame, also cause some picks where he thinks he can make the impossible throw.

I'm also not convinced with how well he sees or feels pressure, now I expect that to improve with better coaching, but it definitely increases the risk.

For me I won't trade to #2, if either he or Fields start to fall I'd be making some calls.
