Got to say what you see, even if it doesn't support your shiny prospect. I did also say that I expect it to improve with better coaching. We have that

Except our current group hasn't exactly improved in that area

I love Zach Wilson, and I'd bet fairly heavily on him.

I do worry about a few things though, he's got that hero mentality that may get him killed in the league with his frame, also cause some picks where he thinks he can make the impossible throw.

I'm also not convinced with how well he sees or feels pressure, now I expect that to improve with better coaching, but it definitely increases the risk.

For me I won't trade to #2, if either he or Fields start to fall I'd be making some calls.

I've said that if he tries something like this in the NFL going up against Aaron Donald, Bobby Wagner or Harrison Smith, they're going to knock his Dennis the Menace looking self straight on to IR.

He doesn't have a build like Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray where he can absorb some massive hits and keep going. He needs to play more of a pocket oriented game because he doesn't have their elite athleticism either.

True, but none of them have actually had that long as the focus of attention, Jimmy keeps getting hurt and the others live off his scraps.

Also I think it makes a difference when it's a vast jump in coaching, I doubt Kyle is teaching Jimmy many things that McDaniels didn't, Zach's coach is just the best Mormon coach!

You basically just said that he hasn't learned it under McDaniels or Shanahan. Which is what some people are trying to say that it's no guarantee that the QBs who need to learn the important parts of QB position will learn it.

I'm not saying he/they can't or won't.

Look, I absolutely acknowledge that improving blitz recognition, and teaching to throw with better anticipation isn't a given.

The things is at different points even if it's inconsistent I've seen it from all the top guys.

I'm just backing our coaching staff to get them to a level where it becomes consistent.

If we didn't have Jimmy I'd be a lot more cautious, but I think we're at a point to aim high, our fall back is a QB that's taken us to within 7 minutes of a Superbowl.

They way thing go with QBs, if Carson Strong is as good as described won't he eventually rise in the top 5-10?

If Jimmy g is as bad as advertised and Davis Mills doesnt show promise, that's where we're picking anyway (or within trade up range, same as this year)

Jimmy who has never actually led a team to a top 10 pick will suddenly do it next year? If he's healthy, we aren't sniffing the top 10.

If Jimmy isn't the guy, we're more likely to be like the Chiefs of 2013-2017 although I do think Jimmy is capable of leading us to a playoff win. And that's our fate, I'm on board with going all in on a top QB prospect next year. Load up the team with talent now on rookie deals and get the QB later.

Yeah Wilson needs to eat some corn bread and lift some weights.

So are they classic drop back QB's.

It's going to be Fields or Mac.

Agreed and I'm slowly but surely dipping my toe in the Fields pool

Do it. I've been a fan since I first saw him play at Georgia. He's got a lot of work ahead of him, but I think he's a tier above Lance and a notch under Mac as far as being ready to start. That game vs Clemson says so much about his potential.
