QB Class 2021

Did Vick ever have a great coach? Vick was carrying the team.

The head coach makes a big difference when it comes to the QB position.

HC/QB match is THE most important in football for success.
We all know any of the three QBs will have success in Kyle's offense.

What we don't know is to what extent and whether or not Kyle wants to take a risk. Big things don't happen without big risks.

Vick was garbage. Mostly he could just run fast. Brees could throw with 10 times more accuracy.
It's not difficult to determine who we will draft if you follow all the right bread crumbs prior to us trading for the #3 pick.

  • Because of Mullens and Beathard not being able to win with the same team Jimmy won with, Kyle stressed how important it is for a QB to overcome situations that are not ideal. These 2 were not able to overcome and help us win when things didn't work perfect.
  • Ever since last season was over, Kyle has stressed only QB's that can extend plays. He has ONLY mentioned the Josh Allens, Patrick Mahomes, and Deshawn Watsons.
  • Kyle has repeatedly mentioned the QB should execute the play as called but it is nice to have one that can do more if needed.
  • SF were involved in trying to acquire Watson but were not going to give up too much draft capital AND $$ because we already had Jimmy.
  • There was absolutely zero Mac Jones hype before we traded to #3. They hype only started when the Kirk Cousins comparisons started.
  • Drafting Mac Jones means we absolutely cannot sustain any injury to our OL.

The entire goal was to have a QB that can overcome an imperfect situation. We heavily rely on Jimmy to win games. Without Jimmy, we don't win. Jimmy heavily relies on staying healthy in order to win. He can actually still win if a few players are injured around him or if he doesn't have the best talent at WR.

The Mac Jones pick goes against everything Kyle has said prior to us trading for the #1 pick.

Someone said in another thread that it was reported that it's actually Lance who Kyle loves, not Mac. That would be interesting. We need a guy who can be a superstar. Not a guy who's similar to Jimmy.

The big thing that concerns me is that Kyle has a habit of taking risks at the worst times. He has risky decisions that resulted in 2 SuperBowl losses to show for it.

In the beginning of this thread, I graded Mac above both Fields and Lance. To me, he did things throwing the ball that the other guys simply did not do. If he had a stronger arm, he would easily be the top guy among the 3. BUT, if Lance had gotten a whole season, it could've been him being my top guy at that spot. Just didn't get to see enough to really say.

Kyle I think is going with what he has seen versus just projecting. If we pick Mac and trade Jimmy, are we gonna use that money this year on someone?
How we gonna lock the Mac thread after his cocaine video....

Does any one know if he got the milk he was ordering?

I've given up trying to figure out what they're thinking, I just want it to get over with so we can actually talk about the rest of the draft.

I see you're warning up for Thursday!

Ban hammer cometh.

I don't know. Many QBs on dominating college teams look like they know how to run an offense because...well...they are comfortable back there. It's like playing flag football. I just don't believe Mac Jones will be able to perform at the level he did in college because that's about the best and most comfortable he will have it. It will be near impossible getting more comfortable than that in the NFL.

Even Andrew Luck had to run the ball for 453 his sophmore season.

Jones will most likely not be in a better situation than he was in college. That tells me the arrow is pointing down.

I agree it'll be very difficult with physical limitations being more obvious when you get to the NFL. That's what I continue to say, he has to do something to address those. If he can't, his upside is super small.

Andrew Luck, the reader of defenses averaged 265 yards rushing per year in the NFL.
