Wait that's the first I've heard of that. All I have been hearing it's all Mac that Kyle wants. Seriously i need Thursday to be here already. The draft process is way too long.

I've given up trying to figure out what they're thinking, I just want it to get over with so we can actually talk about the rest of the draft.
Same. I made my final guess. My brain is fried after all this. Whoever they take, they take.. and there's nothing any of us can do about it. This day and tomorrow leading up are going to feel like the longest freaking days EVER.
Kyle had to make sure taking Fields over Lance was a good move so he had to make sure Fields is the better pick.
There is nothing pointing to Mac Jones other than he plays like Cousins/Jimmy, which is the exact player we are trying to replace. Therefore it doesn't make sense.
You could look at this like Paton does not think he has a chance at Fields ie Fields does not make it past 3. Maybe BA is right, they don't love Mac and perhaps they are fearful of Lance as if Lock struggles early, there may be calls for kid they see needing a redshirt year.
Or maybe they want Lance and think they can land him in this class but want Teddy in case Lock struggles. It allows them to redshirt Lance and let him run the scout team this year.

Idk, just trying to make sense here.
There is considerable pressure to win now. You think Vic gets another year if the Broncos go 5-11? I don't think they were ever in on the QBs unless something crazy like Zach Wilson or Trevor Lawrence getting passed over. I know Fangio likes the LB from Penn St.

Fangio doesn't have final say on this though, George Paton does. And Paton didn't choose Vic... also Paton had multiple teams after him these last few years before Denver finally pried him out of Minny, he likely wields a good amount of GM power right now. And If I would have to guess, Elway green lit him to do what he feels is best for the QB position.
I think he will give Vic a shot to be his HC but won't hesitate to move on if he thinks it's in the franchises best interests.
I don't think we can put too much weight on the 2020 performance for any of these QBs. Just too many variables:
The schedules were slapped together
Opponents may not have been able to prepare per routine
Athletes heavily rely on routines. The ones who stuck to them had the advantage. The ones who slipped did not.
2019 production is the most accurate.
I bet there's going to be more hits in the later rounds than any other draft year just because COVID schedule affects great players that simply had a "COVID" year and it affects average players who took advantage of the "COVID" year.

Pros to Mac Jones:
-Best at throwing accurately under pressure
-Best at knowing where to go with the ball based on pre-snap reads
-One of the fastest releases in this class
-Most pro ready in terms of mechanics
-Plenty of room/potential to grow physically in terms of building muscle, particularly in the core.
-Played against tough competition in the SEC.
Cons to Mac Jones:
-Lowest velocity of all top 5 QBs
-Best supporting cast among all top 5 QBs make it difficult to say to what extent he elevated their play
-Least athletic among the top 5 QBs
-Worst body composition among the top 5 QBs
-Arguably the lowest ceiling among all QBs
-Did not showcase a ton of ability outside the pocket, throwing off platform, and/or at a variety of arm angles.
Macs limitations are all physical. If he could run around and throw with velocity, he'd probably be in the conversation for first pick in the draft. If you pick him top 3, the only way you do that is if you believe those physical limitations will be able to be erased when he enters the NFL. To me, there's still a max extent that he can improve physically, and I don't know if he can do enough to give us better than Jimmy G. He's kind of like a rich man's Nick Mullens, or a Peyton Manning without the size or arm strength. Knows where to go with the ball, but hard to see him being a playmaker in the NFL.
People say Mac Jones is Jimmy G, Dalton, Pennington, or Cousins. I have another comparison: Jake Delhomme. Much like Jimmy (but Jimmy is better than Jake was), he made a Super Bowl with a top notch supporting cast -- and lost. I see Mac as capable of helping the team, but not carrying them.
Since when did Peyton Manning ever have a strong arm?

Mac is average armed right now. I would say he's marginally better than Mullens in terms of velocity. Again, if he can erase his physical limitations, he can absolutely be a star. I think we could do a lot worse than Mac, but I have always been a proponent of having a QB that poses a threat to run.

Don't recall Manning having passes much faster than this one:
Didn't see too much overly impressive in terms of arm strength on his rookie TD highlights.
Not that it matters. Taking Jones when there are much better arms on the table is a mistake no matter what.
EDIT - let me clarify one thing: I disagree that Jones is Manning "without the arm strength" in general. (1) I disagree that their arm strength is that different, but (2) Manning was more accurate, much better at reading defenses (best ever probably), had better field vision, taller, had better improvisational skills, and many other things.
Jones might be fairly advanced on the mental side for a rookie, but Manning still overwhelmingly eclipsed him.
