Even with a top ten pick (assuming the 49ers lose out) I think they still have to trade up to get one of those top four QBs. I just don't think this regime will do that. I think they will go down with the ship. Now, you trade out of that spot, solidify the o-line (which KS doesn't seem to value - but this year ought to change his perspective), pick up a CB, re-sign TW and a few others, and I think they will be back to their winning ways.
Full disclosure, I am off the JG train, and would be happy if they went with a new QB. I just don't think they will do that, and with a solid investment in the o-line, perhaps JG has enough to get the team their 6th. I don't think so. But I would LOVE JG to prove me wrong.

Since were in a six way tie for the teams with five wins (cowboys chargers lions Broncos giants), I looked at each of the other teams remaining schedule and it looks like we will improve 2 to 3 spots realistically.
I also believe the teams with four wins will not win their 2 remaining games to pass up the niners to get to 6 wins (Carolina and Atlanta and Houston) so I would say we are picking ninth or 10th for sure.

Yea but there are two weeks left. Looking at who plays who, the absolute worst the 49ers would pick would be 11th (that's if they lose the last two). To pick 11th, they would have to have every other result go wrong AND have the perfect SOS nightmare. Highly unlikely.
Currently the 49ers SOS is .536
All these teams are right around the 49ers in the draft order:
Texans (.562)
Broncos (.579)
Eagles (.552)
Falcons (.500)
Panthers (.526)
Lions (.505)
I'd bet that they won't pick any worse than 8th if they lose out.

Sorry for the ambiguity. I do not think this regime will trade up for a QB this year. I think they will ride it out with JG, much as I would prefer they did not. I think (hope) they will solidify the o-line, and get guys back healthy, and see how 2021 unfolds.

This is post number 600 for InfiniteEight.
With us solidifying not going to the playoffs yesterday, my mind is now on where we (potentially) pick. Here's my breakdown (sorry for length, but I'd rather be doing this than work lol):The top 3 will of course be:
1) Jacksonville
2) New York Jets
3) Cincinnati
As of today, we are #12. But, my feeling like others on here, is that we will be picking around 7-9. With us at 5-9 currently, I definitely see 2 more losses as both Arizona and Seattle continue to play hard for either getting in to the playoffs and/or positioning. So that means our record should be 5-11. So, 12th would be the worst case scenario while the pie-in-the-sky position would be picking 4th. But, many things would need to happen with other teams and I just don't see any type of "good luck" like that happening.
First, starting with the current 5-9 teams:
Dallas -> Eagles (L), @Giants (W)
Denver -> @Chargers [/b](L)[/b], Raiders (W)
Detroit -> Buccaneers (L), Vikings (L)
L.A. Chargers -> Denver (W), @Chiefs (L)
N.Y. Giants -> @Ravens (L), Dallas (L)
If these predictions hold true, that would mean we would tie with Detroit & NY Giants. I can see Detroit beating Minnesota which would be better for us, but that's a long shot to me.
Now, for the 4-win teams:
Philadelphia -> @Cowboys (W), WFT (W)
Atlanta -> @Chiefs (L), @Bucs (L)
Carolina -> @WFT (L), Saints (L)
Houston -> Bengals (W), Titans (L)
With these 4 teams added in, we would be behind Atlanta & Carolina (4th & 5th) and tied with Houston. We would now be ahead of Philadelphia.
My prediction is then:
1) Jacksonville
2) N.Y. Jets
3) Cincinnati
4) Carolina
5) Atlanta
6) Houston
7) N.Y. Giants
8) Detroit
9) San Francisco
If other wins happen like Detroit over Minnesota and Houston over Tennessee (if Tenn rests players), then we could go up to the 7th pick.

Root for Houston and the Bengals to keep losing and everyone else to win.
