WITH THE 12TH PICK OF THE 2021 DRAFT...

Even in that scenario, Garrett wasn't the best player. Not by a country mile. If there's a redraft, Mahomes goes #1. There will always be good to great players available, its just a matter of doing the work in scouting to find the guys that are most likely to succeed in your system.

I overreacted. However, I think the point still stands. Do you think the Browns regret picking Garrett #1? Absolutely not. He was billed as a generational edge rusher and he has been that ever since he stepped on the field. If anything they should have picked Watson at 12, but I digress. Obviously, the players aren't going to tank, but as a fan, getting a great player in the draft is the light at the end of the dark tunnel of a season. Let's say they won one more game in 2018 and ended up with Clelin Ferrell or anyone other than Bosa. There's no way the Super Bowl run in 2019 would have happened. Talent is talent and sometimes that can't be replaced.
Bengals beat Houston. That would put Miami (via Houston) and Bengals around the 5th-7th mark if we do end up looking for a trade partner.

...which as of right now, is not good if you're wishing for a trade up for a QB. Having Cinci in the top 3 woulda been the best trade scenario, but now Carolina is above them.....

We're not trading up to 3 after yesterday's win. We'll be picking 12-15.

5-7 is more realistic if the guy is there and they want him. Not worried about what Carolina does. Not guarantee they go QB and we don't even know which QB they might like.

After our W I think it's more likely we stay put anyway.
Actually glad we didn't lose. Today has been a bad bay for the draft order we would've been hoping for:

(L) Houston embarrassed at HOME against the Bengals
(L) Atlanta chokes away another chance at a win
(L) Giants handled easily by the Ravens

Add that the Lions getting trounced by the Buccaneers yesterday and literally nothing good has happened that would've helped us.

We have no idea as to how high SF would be willing to trade up for.

And we have no idea what Carolina plan on doing so who cares where they are?

The Bengals are practically guaranteed not to take a QB, and most definitely would want to build around their franchise guy - despite his gruesome injury. Trading that pick would've garnered them a lot of picks. The Panthers are very much up in the air when it comes to the position....Teddy Bridgewater is not the answer to much of anything except a bit of stability.

Agreed on Bridgewater, but Carolina have a ton of holes and we have no idea where they're thinking. For all we know Lawrence and Fields might go 1-2 and they're the only QB's Carolina like.

They're not going to take a QB they don't like just cause. So who knows what might happen.

And like I originally said, it's my opinion that we're not going to trade up from 12-15th to 3. Right now 5-7 is Bengals, Miami, Eagles. That's a nice trade spot with a bunch of teams with no QB needs IF the guy is available.

I think the two of the first three picks are a lock now that we know the order:

1. Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence
2. New York Jets QB or trade back to someone who wants to trade up for a QB
3. Cincinnati Bengals OT Penei Sewell

The Jets likely will not take an OT at #2 after taking Bechton last year. They either stick with Darnold and look to add WR's for a team with literally zero weapons. Or they move on from Darnold and take whatever QB they like.

Darnold going for 3 in a row against the Patriots next week. If he doesn't keep his job he's definitely not hurting his stock.

I still think QB goes 1-2. After that it gets murky.

Panthers leading WFT early. A win could drop them as low as 10th.

If Atlanta lands 3rd then it gets real interesting considering how they're stuck with Ryan but also need a future replacement.

Like I originally said, Cinci staying in the 3rd slot was the best scenario for a supposed trade up because most people as of right now see it as Lawrence/Fields.

Still an eternity to go and almost every scenario can flip around, except most likely Lawrence becoming a Jaguar.

Eagles need a QB. If they think Jalen Hurts is their future then they need a new GM too

Eagles need a QB

....ok
Carolina leads WFT 20-0. That's mostly good but could end up bad too.

Chargers lead Broncos 10-0 which is more bad but could end up good.

Other results haven't been kind to us these last couple weeks.
