Too expensive, imo

EDIT: unless I'm completely underestimating just how bad of a nickname this is and thinking of the wrong player

Grappy - Rosen and there'll be a new kid in town who will also be Shanny's personal project...

SAM " I AM " EHLINGER !!!

Are you saying the Niners pick Sam Ehlinger with the #12 pick?

NO !!! I did not say that he'll be a 1st rounder... but I have a feeling that IF we stay with Grappy and Rosen, then I see Shanny drafting SAM I AM (late) and he becomes that project of his..

Ah ok, the title of the thread is 12th pick of the draft, so you see the confusion there. He is an interesting prospect.

Cocain is a hell of a drug

Who is Grappy?

But seriously Shanny has been wanting to run two TE sets with us here from the beginning (rumors of him wanting to trade for Engram last year, give Kittle some rest, signing Reed, etc.) is something I can see happening.

He also wanted to sign Hooper this past off season as well

Yup. That would be my (dark horse) pick.

If you don't get the QB you want either at 12 or trading up, then trade down. The best talent will be off the board, I say trade to the 20s and get more capital and someone like Wyatt Davis, and perhaps Creed Humprhies in round 2. I'm usually against two rookie OL starting together, but the fact is they have drafted 0 IOL in four drafts and this is an EXCELLENT class for that unit. Then get CB with the extra capital.

I like this kind of party.

Trent, Laken, Creed, Wyatt and Mike could develop into a legit unit if Mike puts it together. Rookies playing together could develop great chemistry. Garland and Brunskill could deliver some depth because of their versatility. We should remember Chris Jones was the Chiefs MVP on that SuperBowl.

I would not be mad adding talent to the OL and with Brunskill free again, he could actually push Mike McGlinchey which is EXACTLY what he needs. These starting OL have been way too comfortable since the only guys "challenging" them have been dudes like Skule, McKivitz and Compton.

Then we need a situational speed ER, 2nd TE and CB challengers. That's assuming they can't get their top QB, resign Rosen and Verrett and Blair comes back too. TW is a lock.

I like where we pick. If by some chance a QB they love is there - Take him.

Otherwise we can draft an immediate starting edge rusher or iol. Imo that's a win win and we can argue over who's the wiser choice lol.
RIght now it looks like the top 10 may consist of:
4 QBS (Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance)
2 WRS (Smith, Chase)
1 OT (Sewell)
1 LB (Parsons)
2 CBS (Surtain, Farley)

So assuming that is the case, I think the 49ers pick will be one of these 3 if they stick at 12
Kwity Paye
Mac Jones
Kyle Pitts

My pick... Mac Jones Need to get our QB for the future

I would just trade up for Smith and keep Jimmy. Offense would be lethal

Yet another reason to go IOL higher than normal. Ive been saying I want Brunskill back at RT. There's no one that can even challenge McGlinchey in camp. Go into 2021 with Shon Coleman, Brunskill, and McGlinchey fighting for that RT spot (assuming Trent Williams is resigned). Then let the best of a FA center, two rookie IOL, McKivitz, Tomlinson, Compton, and Garland earn the LG-C-RG spots. Time to push the dead weight off the roster and have a strong unit, including back up.

So how many of the catches were deep balls? Are you watching the way he is being used? Or making stuff up?

I'll repeat what I mentioned pages before. Trade down to the 20s and draft Wyatt Davis, then draft Creed Humphrey in round 2. That is if your plan is to go cheap with the QB and bring a Sam Darnold.
Otherwise, trade up for Zach Wilson, use money to lure Core Linsley and bring back Trent Williams. Money spent on the trenches is well spent money. Draft the best IOL available once you pick again.
Only scenario I see for keeping Jimmy is if somehow his cap hit goes down to around 15M which is what he deserves, but will never happen.

Wonder how bad Wyatt's injury is. Had to be helped off field tonight, may drop him out of R1.
I do like scenario 2 the best.
