Zion Tupuola-Fetui gets called for roughing the passer but he makes this one look easy. pic.twitter.com/7Z32iloWjH

#58 for Washington - Zion Tupuola-Fetui looks powerful! 6'3 280... Added about 30lbs over last 2 seasons.

Only played 160 snaps coming into 2020. Has 9 QB pressures and 4 sacks already through 2 games - lots of power moves/bull rushes/pursuit

The most dominant defender in college football is known by three letters: ZTF. He's also got one of the sport's coolest stories—an aspiring Bruno Mars-style singer who's used his volleyball background to become a pass-rushing terror for @UW_Football: https://t.co/4gyY9eMe1O

This summer when Tryon announced he was opting out of the 2020 season to train for the NFL draft, Huskies coaches felt pretty confident they had a budding star primed to break out. ZTF, now up to 268 pounds, estimates he'd probably run the 40 in the 4.6-4.7 range, and he has freakish athleticism that isn't best gauged by a stopwatch. Malloe said it's not just how explosive he is off the ball but how fluid he is in hand combat. That makes him special, with a unique ability to set up moves and enact those plans while in motion.
"The best of the best all have really good get-offs, but where they really excel is when you get the hand-to-hand combat and understand when to use what," Malloe says. "He has that in him already. It was innate. You saw it in him as a true freshman. We knew he could pass rush; it was how does he play the run? It took him learning what are the key reads, but once he made that first step, he realized, wait, I'm actually pretty good at this stuff. His confidence is really through the roof right now. It really is fun to fun to watch.
"He has this non-stop energy. He always wants to do things right, and he's just starting to get better. We don't even know what the ceiling will be. There's so much left for him to learn."
