This is still a win now roster, I can't see blowing up a draft board in order to pick in the top 5. Taking a QB in the later rounds serves no purpose, by the time he's ready the window may be closed. A guy like Stafford could rejuvenate his career and make the 49ers serious contenders as soon as he puts on the jersey.

I assume that's because you think Wilson will be so much better than say a Mac Jones.

I do not fall in that category.

So going from 14th to 8th likely costs more than I'm willing to give up to IMO not upgrade what can likely be there at 14.

Haven't watch Desmond Ridder to have enough of a say on him. Lance for sure though...great in play-action & runs a pro-offense. Without question he has those elite traits that Kyle was talking about.

No need for a pay cut, the Lions take on a good chunk of DM next yr...Stafford's cap hit in SF would be like $14M in 2021 and $20M in 2022. I'm guessing they would give him an extension in 2022 though.

The real question is what will it take to trade for Stafford?

If the plan was to go QB anyway then giving up our first is no big deal. How much on top of that?
