So then you're keeping Jimmy, right?

They would more than likely have to cut him before the draft because FA starts before the draft.

Yes absolutely...regardless of who we get in the draft we keep Jimmy next season. Only way that changes is if we added Stafford or Matt Ryan

It's going to be really interesting with an immobile jimmy without Trent Williams protecting his backside

so NY, what exactly is your idea of what the management should do w/Jimmy?

and how to go about free agency and the draft..

im leaning towards moving up for a QB. I was against it but SDM is horrible and Jimmy G is always hurt.

Our starting QB needs to be a veteran. I don't trust a RC to run this roster that we have. With that being said we need a new backup QB with star potential.

Right?

See if you can work with Jimmy to move him, if not cut him and save $50m (over next 2 yrs)...Cut Richburg/Gould as well. Ford is a June 1st cut (use that cash to give Warner a extension). Give Laken an extension, which will lower his cap hit in 2021. See if there's a restructure that makes sense elsewhere.

Resign TW, Verrett, juice, Mosley is a RFA which will be cheap...go after some IOL FAs (I like linsey in GB at center). I'm gonna let KW and Hyder checkout the market and then see if I can get them back on a shorter deal. Look at Kerrigan/Vernon at edge.

Backup QB is Fitz, possibly Mariota (I don't see him in LV next yr with his cap hit, plus it's a team-option deal). I'm guessing they keep one of Mullens/CJ as a 3rd string cheap guy.

Draft, I'm all in at QB..,Move up do what you need too. Future 1st whatever...Rest of the picks are on DB/OL/EDGE (not gonna get into who I like at those spots just yet).

Outside of the picks we currently have, we should be getting a 3rd for Saleh (new HC rule) another 5th for Sanders, plus the extra 5th for Kwon trade.

No QB with a big bloated contract resets our cap for the next 4-5yrs.

If the pick is 5th-8th, they can't reach to fill a need and draft the second rated OL or the top corner. It would be a big mistake in my eyes. The corner class is average at best this year. Farley is the top rated Corner and he isn't viewed as an elite or can't-miss prospect. Sewell is the top OL and everyone behind him is bunched together. If the 49ers take an OL/CB in the first, it better be after they trade back.

Surtain and Farley are both widely viewed as top 10 prospects in this class currently.

If they aren't getting a QB then I'd better be seeing them draft Rousseau. Just unleash Bosa, Kinlaw and Rousseau on QB's next year, run the football, hope Garoppolo stays healthy and get back to winning games.

Sign Alex Mack and do what it takes to draft Zach Wilson = Problem solved.
QB without a doubt especially if the Niners lose the next two games and end up in the top 10. There are at least 4-5 IOL on day 2 or early day 3 who can plug the biggest hole at the center of our offensive line.
