If you go CB that early, its usually because you need a guy that you can leave on an island frequently in coverage. Thus scheme doesn't demand that. Develop a monstrous pass rush and you can get by with lesser CBs.

Assuming we don't lose Saleh to a head coaching position.

DeAndre Hopkins, DK Metcalf, Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley, Davante Adams, Michael Thomas and the Cowboys WRs liked this post.

I like how you're thinking. I would add one more option to yours:

Option C: Trade back a little, take Wyatt Davis or Rashawn Slater
Round 2 : Mac Jones QB
Round 3: Drake Jackson OC Kentucky

Gonna be hard for those guys to catch the football if their QB is running for his life or coming in and out of the blue tent.
If the Niners keep Jimmy G and his salary, they must improve their pass pro in the draft.

Truth be told, that strategy had the best QB in the game having the worst game of his life for 50 minutes in the biggest game of his career. Strategy works especially if we have a QB and OL on the other side that could hold up.
Since we probably won't get the top 3 QB at this point, now what's the next plan of action?

We were hoping you would tell us...

He'd take Creed Humphrey over Trevor Lawrence. Wrong guy to ask.

Lol. Ok. Nevermind.

I'd go:
R1 Gregory Rousseau, EDGE
R2 Derion Kendrick, CB
R3. Tyler Linderbaum, C
R4 Ben Cleveland, OG

Haha. If ya'll listened to me we'd have #6 by now. Your way clearly isn't working still.

On the real, this was an open question on all positions. Yes, even DL.

Haha. I'm not there yet.

Not sure Cincy would go Chase at 5. They're actually at a pretty good place with WR with Boyd, Higgins and Green.

There's still Trey Lance. If Shanahan isn't on board, then O-line, edge, and CB move to the front of the line. Trade back and try to come out of the draft with 2 or 3 rookie starters or at least guys that are good enough to start, but may not be able to beat the man in front of them.
Draft a QB in round 1? Nope. Not this year. For several reasons....

1. Our OL is hot trash. Has been for a while too. Last year, our running game and short passing game hid a lot of problems with the OL. They didn't need to be great in pass pro. Jimmy can get the ball out quick when he's got Kittle and Debo to dump the ball off to and our running game is clicking to make the play action a threat. We didn't have all that in 2020.... so the holes on our OL became more apparent.

2. Jimmy is a top 15 QB. He seems to be injury prone and is good for 1-2 really bad throws every game. But 90% of the time, he makes quick and accurate throws. He is also experienced in Shanahan's offense. I don't see anybody being able to come in and do as good of a job as Jimmy anytime soon.

3. We are still a win now team. All the injuries in 2020 ruined the season. But we are not a team that needs a rebuild. We need to continue to draft BPA and replace veterans that leave for various reasons.

4. Most important reason here I think..... the 2020 college football season was.... weird. I don't think this was a good year for evaluating top QB talent. Many top teams in the big conferences barely had a football season. I think there is a very high probability of top picks in this upcoming draft being major busts. OL is a safer pick.
