Jaelan Phillips-EDGE-Miami

But you gotta admit... his film > any other pass rusher in this class.

No doubt. He's a top 15 prospect. Also like I said

retiring wasn't his choice...concussions though 😬
I still want him or Ojulari after trading down from 12.the forced brief retirement and audio engineering degree doesn't worry me at all. He's not just a kid trying to get rich. Every player should all have some kind of passion to focus on for life after the NFL.

Concussions and getting hit by a car...
You know who Phillips reminds me of? Aaron Lynch. The builds, their playstyle, and even their stories are very similar. People forget that Lynch was a 5-star recruit and seen as Clowney's equal when he was a Freshman the same way this dude was to Chase Young. Lynch's career basically unraveled after his Freshman year because he didn't love football. Dude got hooked on pills, lost weight and moved back to Florida because he felt uncomfortable in Indiana. Lynch was an elite talent that never came remotely close to sniffing his potential.

Lynch was a monster at ND.

Not similar in character at all though.

Yeah, probably not there. Aaron Lynch is a full-blown dumbass. When he was here in SF, a bunch of people I know were friends with him on Xbox and played video games with him during the season. Dude was drunk and high off his ass every time they played.

But when I watched Jaelan Phillips play, it immediately brought back Aaron Lynch.

Some very beloved 49ers were high and drunk constantly too.

But ya know... believe me or not... idc.

Lynch at ND was f**king beast mode...too damn bad. He was lazy as s**t and like you said drank/smoked all though college and in the NFL apparently lol.

I wouldn't say Phillips off-field stuff is remotely close to that. BUT I do agree, the concussions scare the s**t out of me (more than if he wants to play football)

That's not a good comparison at all lol 😂 Aaron lynch was a dumbass! Plus jaelan phillips has more talent and his pass rushing technique is better with his hands plus he is actually a good kid from all reports.

Yup, the casual fans don't know about Aaron Lynch. Dude was a beast before he unraveled. For a second there, I thought he got his s**t together when he got here under Habraugh. Dude was flashing that elite talent.

Aaron Lynch was 6'5", 250 lbs(pilled up, skinny version at USF) with 34" arms at his pro day. He got off the pills and up to his natural weight of 265 lbs here in SF. Phillips doesn't have this power.

Look at the get off and movement around the arc. He was 6'5", 265+ here flying around the arc like that. Anyone that thinks Aaron Lynch wasn't a freak has no clue what they're talking about. Nice violent swipe, too.

Again, that's 6'5", 265+ lbs taking an acute angle to the QB. That's not normal.

I can't find the clip, but he had a beautiful double-swipe vs the Broncos where he sacked Manning.

Aaron Lynch failed due to everything except natural talent. Dude was an elite talent. I thought he was going to put it together here after his rookie season, and that we were going to have drafted a top-10 talent in the 5th round lol. I heard he was close to 300 lbs by the time he left SF.

I bought my Aaron Lynch 49er jersey like half way through his rookie season. I remember him flashing elite talent, and then he blocked a punt, and that was all she wrote.

Damn shame. Aldon Smith is the all-time what if. Glad to see him out there this yr though
Louis reddick says :
Want to see Miami DE Jaelan Phillips: 1. Get coached by Kris Kocurek of the #49ers or 2. Get coached by Robert Saleh. 3. Stay healthy. If either 1 or 2 happens, combined with 3, he can be an All Pro. Quickly.
