If all the top 4 QB's are gone by the Niners pick, would you trade down?

We know Lawrence is the top pick and depending on what happens with the Jets, the top 4 QB's could be gone by pick #14. What would you do then? Since the Niners have 41 total free agents, I would predict a trade down with their first pick so another team could take a pass rusher like Rousseau or a CB like Farley or Surtain at their spot. What do you think?
I'd be the team taking Farley
We need edge and secondary help as well. So if first round talent is there at a position of need grab it.

We need a DE to pair with Bosa. But, we also need help in the secondary and OL. A good player should be available at those positions at #15.
If there was an edge worth taking, I would. Otherwise I would trade down as long as the payment was good.
I am always a fan of trading down, especially if we are able to get a future first from a team that could bust, potentially giving us an additional top 10 pic the next year. We have a solid nucleus to build around with Bosa, Warner, Kittle, Deebo, Aijuk, and hopefully Kinlaw. We have a ton of pending free agents, so this team is going to be a lot different looking next year no matter what. We need to fill in the gaps around those players. I'd love to grab a top tier QB in this draft. Even in the first and keep Jimmy. I think Jimmy would be a good guy to learn behind for a few years, because Jimmy checks all of the boxes when it comes to the off field intangibles.

Who we are able to resign and decide to let go will weigh in heavily on our decisions. I think Ford is done, so we need to find another pass rusher. Sherman might want more than we can pay and decide to follow Saleh wherever he goes. We have to resign Verrett and pray he finally stays healthy a few seasons. We'd be in pretty good shape if that were to occur. If for some reason Trent Williams takes an offer elsewhere, that immediately becomes top priority.

This is going to be a weird year for the draft. It's all a crapshoot anyway, and this year will be more of the same, but on another level. This whole class coming in be a little more raw. Less time practicing. Less contact with coaches. Less experience overall. I feel like the evaluation process won't be as complete as we are used to, and a lot of quality players will end up falling because of it. This would be the best year to trade down in my opinion.

Who does Shanahan view as the top 4 QBs? I have a suspicion that list will differ from the Webzone list.
God no...you take the best cb there is at that spot

very much so

Reaching for a CB is a recipe for disaster. From everything I'm seeing Farley and Surtain will be gone by our pick and there's a drop off to guys like Horn and Wade

I just hope they don't let Lance slide by if he's there.

WHY? what is it that you see in Lance that you like?
I would say absolutely not or at least not for that reason. QB is not this team's main issue or priority for next season even though I am more than fine with drafting one. If Horn or Farley are sitting there or a player that fits an immediate need who figures to be good enough to start Day 1 on this team, I think you have to take him.

Not opposed to trying to collect more picks either. But not just because QB's are off the board.

The team is fine with Jimmy next year provided you keep him healthy. People are, I don't want to say panicking, but wanting to get him out of here ASAP for a maybe.

You want someone better or someone who can challenge him, fine. That doesn't have to be Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, or whoever #4 is between Jones or Trask, who seemingly was awful last night. If Kyle is as good as some think he is, he can groom a "toolsy" non first rounder to be the replacement a lot of people seem to want.

I kind of wonder that myself. I mean I haven't seen him and unless you've watched online videos or actually caught some North Dakota State games, not too many literally have. I get that he is, as I just said, "toolsy" and has a high ceiling. He also may have a lower floor than any other first round QB. I actually completely forgot about him likely being in the conventional Top 4. Low level of competition that hasn't consistently translated into the NFL. Not a huge advocate of "he came from that school so he'll bust or disappoint". But level of competition does come into play. Wentz has had injury issues to both himself and guys around him that haven't helped. But one season of looking like something and then the rest of the time looking like how in the world did he go #2 overall. Easton Stick, well I don't think anyone saw him as a starter at this level.

Maybe Lance becomes a star but he's boom or bust like Josh Allen and again if the plan is "this is the replacement for Jimmy", um likely not for a while since not only lower level of competition but an entire year of no competition and no playing.

Mahomes is interesting to me because at first blush and for all the people who laments us not taking him, I remember he was kind of a project in a lot of minds. So much so that I thought without looking that he may have been a bit turnover prone in college. Went back and looked and he really wasn't at least with picks. But I also remember seeing a game of his and his style and the way the commentators even talked about him, came across as a free wheeling kind of player who could maybe be reckless at times. The numbers could be deceiving as well since defense is generally an afterthought in the Big 12. I don't consider Tyreek Hill to be a deep thinker by any means but I saw where he thought Mahomes was a wasted pick when he first saw him on the field in camp.

Maybe people see some Mahomes in Lance. But it's a risk without a doubt.

Lance has Josh Allen like upside IMO. I love that he's spent this whole "off season" tightening up his throwing motion and working on the nuances of throwing the ball.

He's got all the "tools" you want in a NFL QB in 2020. While having limited snaps, he did play in a pro-style offense. He played from under center and was a boss off of play-action. I agree he was throwing to open WRs, but lets not act like guys like Jones/Lawrence/Fields etc haven't had their fair share of open WRs or just had flat out better talent to throw too as well.

When you're drafting a guy, it's never about what he's gonna be that first yr in the NFL....it's what he WILL become, what is his ceiling. IMO Lance has one of the highest ceilings in this QB class. Does he start day 1? probably not, I also can see Kyle using what he's good at right now and rolling with it, taking some lumps in order for long-term development (like Allen).
