If all the top 4 QB's are gone by the Niners pick, would you trade down?

If all the top 4 QB's are gone by the Niners pick, would you trade down?

BPA regardless of position...(minus kicker and punter)

What do you think?

I don't think we are going to draft a QB in the first round. They'd be more likely to trade down if a QB was available at their spot.
As I look at this draft right now...I don't see a s**t ton of elite talent at the positions we need, outside of QB.

I don't see SF taking a CB early, we don't play a ton of man (outside of on 3rd down). If you're investing in a top CB it's because they are a lockdown man CB. Not how our defense rolls. They can find good Zone/C3 DBs l little later. The defense is about the DL.

I think most have gregory rousseau as the top EDGE prospect, even he's a bit of head scratcher... He's pretty raw as a pass rusher overall. Great tools/great athlete, but is gonna take some time to develop. He's kinda the Trey Lance of edge rushers in this draft. Kwity Payne is another top edge prospect, I get a Brandon Graham vibe from him (not just because they both went to Michigan either lol). I think I might have him ranked higher actually.

So IMO I wouldn't hate moving up for a QB or moving down for a future pick and some day 3 picks.

I only have 3 QBs listed on my 1st round list.. Trevor - Wilson - Fields.. Fields scares me cause he is talented but I just think that he's not ready... he may end up another Haskins especially how everyone is trying to get in his head by making him a very GOOD QB already instead of a very GOOD talent at the position.

PLUS, I'm not convince that QB is actually our problem.. Jimmy just needs to stay healthy.. we all would like him to put up Aaron or Mahomes type numbers but the fact is, if he can just be another Troy Aikman type of QB, then we have our team a future HOF...

I'm pretty sure Marino will trade all his numbers for Aikman's 3 rings.

Aikman wasn't afraid to give the plamymaker a chance. Or Alvin Harper. He didn't just force feed Novacek over the middle.

God no...you take the best cb there is at that spot

Reaching for a CB is a recipe for disaster. From everything I'm seeing Farley and Surtain will be gone by our pick and there's a drop off to guys like Horn and Wade

I like Derion Kendrick, he's rising but could be there with their second pick.

Me too.

Ngl though, even after last night I'm not entirely opposed to trading down if Lawrence, Fields, Wilson and Jones are gone and snagging Trask with an early second. Maybe even late first. Why? That deep touch is second to none, and Shanahan can scheme open deep passes. Trask seems non-functional when things go off script, but that's not too far from where we are anyway. But unlike our current QB room, when there's a wide open deep touchdown, and he has a cleanish pocket, he's not likely to miss it.

I doubt that Kyle has spent any time looking at QB prospects yet. He's been busy trying to figure out who's healthy enough to play every week. Once the season is over then he can sit down with the scouting dept and Lynch to start evaluating talent. They also can start signing free agents and get a read on what they'll need from the draft.

Jimmy Johnson also didn't force fed Aikman to throw the ball and knew to run it down the Bills throat in their Super Bowl Rematch..

I would shed no tears at a Garoppolo/Rosen/Beathard line up, depending on how Rosen starts looking. If he can't carry the QB2 spot as a minimum then we need more help. But I would prefer to come out of next year's draft with the base of a new O line and maybe support for Bosa.
If the 49ers aren't sold on Wilson, Fields or Lance OR they're all gone / simply too expensive to trade up for, I think the no-brainer move is to trade down.

This draft looks very deep at CB, DE and OL. CB in particular is teaming with prospects in the 2-4 round range who are extremely intriguing. Hell, Georgia alone, has three CB prospects (Campbell, Stokes and Daniels) who look like ballers. While I love Jaycee Horn and Surtain and Farley, I think the drop off from them to someone like Tyson Campbell or Israel Mukuamu isn't dramatic and both can be had in the late 1st through mid-2nd area. Similarly, there are several DE prospects in the 15-50 range who don't have that much of a gulf between them in terms of ability.

Let's assume the 49ers are picking 12th. I would be more than happy to package that pick for a late 1st and late 2nd. We can grab a starting CB, pass rusher, and IOL with the first three picks and then look for a tools-y QB in the 3rd (the Saleh pick). Someone like Jamie Newman, Desmond Ridder or Kellen Mond.

Then, in rounds 4-7, it's all about stockpiling secondary, OL, WR and DL.
i absolutely would. given the number of free agents another day two pick and maybe a 4th would be very welcome.

Um, normally I would agree, but......

We need to shore up our O line and put the foundations down for the future. I think we look fine at rb, wr and te, or at least, as far as early picks go. So for me, not BPA unless John Lynch can do the job in free agency.

The question is, if there is a player available in the draft that would want other teams to trade up the draft for? I can see some player like Jones being there @ 14 and a team like the Redskins would want to move up.

Who does Shanahan view as the top 4 QBs? I have a suspicion that list will differ from the Webzone list.

That is probably the truth. Who do you think are his top 4?
