Kellen Mond-QB-Texas A&M

This exchange between Grant and Crock is funny. Mond's stiffness is mainly due to that disgusting way he holds the ball up high with both elbows flared out. We've been talking about it since the inception of this thread. If you fixed this issue for Mond, he'd play a lot more relaxed and allow his athleticism to flow naturally. He'd likely look like a different player with more athleticism and a stronger arm.

It's Jeff Tedford and how he has his QBs hold the ball above the shoulders (ARodgers). In theory it helps for a quicker release because the arm is pre-cocked. But it tenses up the entire shoulder area.
I have a weird feeling Mond is going to go higher than we all think. I'm thinking late 2nd.
Hard pass.

QB in 1st round please.

Maybe Rodgers did correct his stiffness but im willing to bet he is a oddity and the majority who have this issue don't fix it bc its not a natural feel for them.

People said the same about Prescott who was a better prospect. He still went in the 4th. I think anywhere from mid 3rd to late 4th is the sweetspot for Mond.

Agreed. There's more QBs in this draft too. Mond going 4th round at best.

The only thing Rodgers changed was the way he held the ball. That's it. He was fortunate to end up in a situation where he had the time to drill reps and ingrain the new motor patterns while he sat behind Favre.

Mond would need to end up in a situation where he can do the same. No idea why he was taught this s**t, outdated Tedford technique.

I feel like I read somewhere that his father has been grooming him to be a QB from a young age, I'm not sure if he's gonna change the way he holds the ball if he's been told to do it like that since he was a kid

The more I watch the more I don't hate completely...there's some big time throws mixed in with a bunch of poop though.

IMO I'm just done with the second/third tier QBs and trying to "get by" at that position.

He still plays well in spite of the high carry, so it won't cripple him if he doesn't change it. But he could see big improvements by lowering his carry point and relaxing his elbows and shoulders.

Yeah, Mond is a better passer coming out than Kap was.

He reminds me so much of Dak Prescott. He was knocked pretty hard for his lack of deep ball accuracy pretty good and Mond shares the same crazy, gritty confident play style where he'll make throws that apparently no one ever told him he shouldn't be able to complete. Strong leadership ability and both guys looked borderline undraftable at one point but continued to make constant progress as passers throughout their college careers.

I thought Dak was much more smooth then Mond. I agree he's a better passes then Kap but he's still super stiff with everything he does.
