Kellen Mond-QB-Texas A&M

I do wonder how he would be ranked if he had the same coverage as the Big 5. I wont lie, his tape (youtube) looks good.

wtf this s**t doesn't even look real. Dude looks so awkward throwing it, and then the ball travels 65 yards lol.

This Pro Day trick shot is getting ridiculous, its starting to become like the NBA dunk competition. In the next year or two you're gonna have some QB throwing it through the goalposts while standing on the back of a moving rickshaw.

I miss the good ol days of throwing it 50 yards into a trash can. That's when I knew Kyle Boller was going to be the greatest QB ever

I've been as high as being convinced he's at least a 2nd rounder, to thinking that he's a 6th round flyer at best.

The reality is somewhere in between. What's clear is that he has an absolute cannon, one on a level with the top 4 guys and on another tier to Mac Jones.

I don't knock the release, it looks awkward but the ball jumps out quicker than most others.

He has too many WTF moments for me, more than Fields and as many as Lance, there just seems to be a disconnect at times and I'm less forgiving of a Senior with his starting experience having them.

A vertical passing team should have this guy graded pretty high as it would play into his strengths, but I wouldn't have liked him nearly as much in our scheme. I was settling that he'd be worth a 3rd round dart throw for us, in the hope Kyle could develop him.

Imagine Mond sitting behind Brady for a year or two.

I thought Tampa too. And if they draft him, Mond is definitely sitting 2 years. Three is a possibility lol.
What if we drafted Mond at 3? lol. Alright, going back to bed.

Watching an interview with him right now on NFL Network. Seriously smart guy. Instead of going to a QB camp and hiring someone like John Beck to construct his workout, he did his on his own. He watched film on his weaknesses and figured out what NFL teams wanted to see and made his practice fit accordingly.

His tape looks good. He could be a serious steal.

Its rare to see QB's picked outside the 1st do well in the NFL but I wouldn't bet against Mond. He played with piss poor talent while going against SEC defenses, got better every year, has all the physical tools you're looking for, seems to have a good head on his shoulders, hard worker for sure, you get him with the right coach and in the right offense, who knows?

If I were Houston I'd make a strong push for him. Watson clearly appears to be done there and Mond gives you a local Texas guy to try and develop into the face of your franchise.
9 of 32 starters weren't 1st rounders... 3 others were the last pick of the first round.

Odds aren't too bad... and honestly, I could see a team falling in love with him and drafting him in the 1st round.

Yeah but over how many years? Brady is included in that list and he was a 6th rounder over 20 years ago. Since he was picked, here are some of the other 6th round QBs:

Andre Woodson
Jim Sorgi
Jim Miller
Andy Hall
Joe Webb
Chuck Clements
Brooks Bollinger
Colt Brennan
Bruce Gradkowski
Dan LeFevour
Craig Whelihan
JaJuan Seider
Curtis Painter
Jeff Smoker
Tony Pike
Jerry Colquitt
J.T. O'Sullivan
John Dutton
Josh Booty
Ryan Lindley
Josh Harris
Keith Null
Josh Heupel
Rusty Smith
Mike Cawley
Spergon Wynn
Mike Teel
Jordan Palmer
Spence Fischer
Tom Brandstater
Todd Husak
Drew Henson
Kliff Kingsbury
Mike Cherry

Its always going to be easier to find a top QB early on in the draft. Later on you're just throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks and Brady was a piece of spaghetti that stuck in a big way.

Mond does have an opportunity to be one of those who does beat the odds if he lands in a good place that will let him sit and watch, refine his delivery and hopefully put some good talent around him.
After watching his interview and his "pro day" that he orchestrated, not too sure somebody, esp BB might just take him in the first. If he happens to go in the 2nd, somebody will get a really good QB.

I think there's more that goes into why later round QB's rarely have success. If the arm talent isn't there, forget about it. But if the arm talent is there...there's only one spot at that position and reps, opportunity, and prep is vital to focus on the one QB that is starting. The only time any non starting QB gets an inkling of a chance is when the starter gets injured. And we have seen quite often that the guy who comes in has some success if their arm talent is not limited.

There's just not enough commitment involved in developing that late round QB. The QB position requires live reps and major commitment that coaches in the NFL cannot afford unless they are draft-value-committed.

This is why I really like Mond. He has all the tangibles along with solid footwork.

Good interview. Really likable guy. I think he'll be successful in the league.

I cant listen to Chris Simms, but I've seen several of Monds interviews... I'm sure it was great.

Yupp... the old college QB challenge was amazing....

When Aaron Rodgers was hitting moving targets 40 yards down field....you knew that dude was flat out legit, other QBs had issues with moving targets at 10 yards. Best QB exhibition i have ever seen.
