This feels exactly like when Dak Prescott was coming out, 4 yr starter in the toughest conference, played good and got better every year, mobile, good arm, but both not getting much shine and considered mid round picks, now the million dollar question is will he become anything close to Dak ?

He is much more Josh Dobbs than he is Dak Prescott, though Dobbs does still have his truthers waiting to say "I told you so"

I wouldn't mind Mond or Mills, in the later rounds.

For what? Nothing I hate more than spending middle of the round picks on QBs, especially when you actually need a QB. Might as well draft a punter in the 4th at least he will play.

kid looks like Kap out there with his subpar footwork and weird high elbow release.

Of the two, I would prefer Mills in the middle rounds. He's got the size and the tools and has a bigger upside. He didn't get a lot of starts in college because of injuries and David Shaw's penchant for always starting the older QB. He drives me crazy with that. It's like he believes the guy with seniority deserves the start.

It may not be a strong possibility that he becomes a starter but it is possible. You never know. If he ends up being a bust you haven't invested that much in him like you would reaching for a guy in the 1st round. I think there are only 3 guys that are worthy of being picked in round one. Lawrence, Wilson and Fields. There will be others because teams that need a QB will reach for one but the bust potential increases for them.

Agree, after round one the QB failure rate is astronomical. You have Prescott and Hurts (so far) in the last 6 years picked after R1 and successful.

So if they don't trade up for one of the top 3 or don't take what's left over at 12 then they shouldn't draft a QB at all? I don't agree with that. They need to find either a solid backup or a guy that can replace Jimmy. Sooner or later that's going to happen whether it's this year or 2 years from now. Middle round picks have a really small chance of becoming a starter but not drafting a QB has even less chance.

Somewhat agree. From 2016-2020, 2 of 48 QBs have been successful....Prescott and Hurts. It's just such a dart throw after R1. There are a couple back-up QBs that have been drafted over that time frame....Minshew comes to mind. I think that's the best you can hope for in the mid rounds....back-up QB level. I don't know what the answer is TBH, but mid round QBs tend to suck. Would rather spend that pick on an EDGE, CB, or offensive weapon.

Is the success rate much better if you include 1st round guys?

IMO you should draft a QB every 2 or 3 years, your backup situation is important and if you hit you're set, even if you have a starter they're then trade value.
