His tape is very pedestrian. Makes some great contested catches when the DB isn't looking but zero separation or quality route running.

I'm watching the combines when I can, man o man the sports science has advanced since the turn of the century. All these guys are ripped and flexible with all the new sports techniques they are using to train for the NFL. Wow. Impressive.

Without the combine, this will probably be the most accurate drafting by NFL teams.

Its not just the Combine, its team meetings with players at the Combine, at their facilities and extended 1 on 1 time just getting a read on these guys. I expect a whole lot more whiffs than usual.

it's gonna be a rough year for scouting departments. The part about getting into a players head and finding what's going on upstairs is crucial to placement on draft boards, and it's something that can only happen with in person interviews. A guy might have incredible measurements but looking at the tape and numbers doesn't tell you what's going on inside, and as we have seen in our recent drafts that's critical!

As phoenix says, there's going to be a lot of whiffs in this years drafts, and I agree with him on that. And because of the uncertainty of the scouting process, I'd really think about trading down if I was the 49er front office - specially on offense where Kyle - just by his eye can pick out good RB's and WR's. Kyle *should* be able to clean up on the offensive side (i.e. be able to see the gems and get them at a lower price) because of all the other front offices whiffing on their picks.

This makes me think back to Foster and what a show he put on tape, in person, on chalkboard...etc. But in the final analysis , how do you get what is in a guy's head? PHX is right on...this crapshoot is going to be the biggest one yet for whiffs, fans, and downright ugly mistakes.

I like kyle's ability to pick out RBs and that is a huge advantage. But for OL, DL, QB, DBs, LBs i sure hope that it is the triumvirate making the choices, and if not all in agreement, then start over. Also hope any jumping up kyle "has to have" is okayed by both John and Peters. Kyle is a genius but he seems to get carried away at times, come draft day. Late picks I don't care . But anything in rd 3 and under, i hope it is by acclimation only, all 3 guys being on same page.... and not just because kyle says yes.

You can't get into a guys head, that's where the undrafted players come in. You do your best with what you have and draft the guy you want after doing your homework, but there is strength in throwing numbers at a problem. Kyle's been throwing high round pick after high round pick at the WR position and now we look like we have a good set finally (Deebo and Aiyuk). Brunskill was an undrafted free agent.

I think Kyle's been humbled a bit by the draft and his offensive draft whiffs. (Hurd and Pettis). At least I hope so. I hope he will listen more on the offensive side to GM and assitsnt GM when making offensive draft picks. As for numbers, my hope is he'll throw numbers at the OLine. Namely free agents and draft picks. (Trent, Alex, and maybe add another two rookie OLinemen) that should be enough numbers to get some improvement for 2021 OLine.

I swear this draft might produce the best results cause teams are having to rely on game film and won't just fall in love with combine numbers.
