What is the best use of our 2021 first round draft pick?

A lot of people are arguing that we upgrade our QB position. But another approach would be to upgrade our OL so that all of our QB have more time to throw and would play better (and maybe not get injured so much). What is your preference? Upgrade the most important position on the field, get them more help, or spend it elsewhere?

After seeing a Superbowl winning head coach Doug Pederson get fired just because he thought Carson Wentz was washed up (spoiler alert: He is), I am scared that something similar will happen to Kyle Shanahan if he is rash in his decision making with changing the QB so soon especially since Jimmy G is 24-9 as a starter, and Kyle is losing with everyone else.

For the best chance at long term success, I would keep Garappolo until his contract runs out. I would keep running him out there and see if he will either win games or just lose/get injured all the time.

For this year, I would draft BPA in the 1st round, and look for a Mac Jones/Kyle Trask in the 2nd round to sit behind Jimmy and learn the playbook.

I think we should keep Jimmy and draft his replacement. So BPA would be my choice for the #1 pick. I know we need oline help, but after watching Najee Harris that kid is special.

1)In a trade package for Deshaun Watson.
2)In a trade for Matt Stafford.
3)Use it and draft the best player available.

Those would be the best use of our pick.

Reality though?

1) Defensive lineman
2) no other considerations

Depends on a # of things.

What QB is left on the board? I personally think Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance and Jones will be gone. If thats the case I'm picking the best available O available. If we lose Verrett i'm probably going corner.

In a package for QB or for a QB, or trade down to get more picks in the 2nd and 3rd.

Trade down and rebuild the O line and the defensive backield.

If the packers can draft a QB in the first with a hall of famer still playing not once but twice, we can do with jimmy g.

Trade down and get more draft capital. We ain't getting any of the top 3 QBs. Keep Jimmy G for another season and fill some major holes. We can go after a QB next season if Jimmy doesn't pan out, he helped the team to the SB on his first full season as a starter he deserves another shot although his health is a big concern.

Won't know until after Free Agency. FA will fill some holes with experienced players. If the current roster just stayed exactly the same as it is now, then I would say edge rusher or QB. A good pass rush will keep you in almost every game (Ex: washington with their dline). QB is obvious. Jimmy wins games when he is healthy... but he is hurt a lot. We are wasting other talent on our roster every year jimmy gets hurt and we say wait till next year when we are all healthy. Guys like Deebo, Bosa, Warner, etc.. get a year older on a bad team and eventually they will need big contracts. We need a healthy QB to run the system or we will never be better then Pittsburgh last year with Rudolph or Washington this year.

Other options would be Oline or db. If Sherman leaves and Verrett follows Saleh wherever he goes and we only sign competition type guys in FA then DB suddenly becomes a huge need in the first round. Jaycee Horn is a realistic option .

looking at the big board and other mocks, it looks like Kyle Pitts, Patrick Surtain, and some really good players will be abailable to us. Surtain would be awesome, especially if we are losing Sherman.

I know we all want a QB, but I'd Say OL, CB, and then just go for BPA and whoever it is let them compete.

If we could get Mac Jones in the 2nd...I think that would be a good take. Other than that, I do not see us moving on a QB.

I know everyone is dreaming about trading for Watson, or Taking one of others but I really doubt that happens.

From what I've seen Surtain will be long gone by #12 but if he's not you have to think long and hard about that

Keep Jimmy, but, draft a QB in 2nd or 3rd round. Need to improve OL and CB.

Or trade for more picks. Get OL, CB and QB.
