What is the best use of our 2021 first round draft pick?

What is the best use of our 2021 first round draft pick?

We are getting Stafford.

Trade down. Trade down to mid 20s and get back 2 of the 4 picks we are going to give up for Stafford in rounds 2 and 3.

Yes!!!
The answer is just so unsexy! The 12th pick has some value. I'd trade back 6 or 7 spots and draft Horn, Slater or Darrishaw, perhaps Mac. Pickup more picks and build OL and defensive backfield.

Best answer i have read. Vera-Tucker would be my pick after trade down. He can play guard or tackle. Williams is gonna ask for too much money. He deserves it but resigning him would limit who else could be resigned
I think our team needs are simple. OL, Corner, Edge rush.

- corner.

Yes we have good young options but nobody is under contract. We probably want to sign verrett and mosely and K'wonn but will we get them all and will there be an upgrade in the draft?

I am in no rush to sign any but verrett until the draft is setlled. There are good options that will be there at 12.

- We need a complimentary edge rusher. This is least likely to be there.

Unless you take another banged up dude like Kerrigan we are stuck with Ford. If there is real talent at 12 better than CB or OL you take it.

-we need to fix the interior kine but you can do this by grabbing a tackle in R1 which could save money or allow you to move someone or sign other FAs.

You can do this at any position in rd 1, 2 or 3.

If the kid Darrisaw from VA tech is on the board at 12 you take him to play tackle. I think you also resign Trent Williams or let him walk and get other help. I think we prefer to resign williams. I am curious if mcglinchy can move inside. I think yes if you draft RT at 12 amd resign Williams.

Mosely and Brunskill are ERFA so you can drag that out and see if you don't land that talent in R1 R2 or R3.

So really in my mind I am looking corner or OL at 12 based on talent (just because value at edge rusher will not be there.

Then BPA in 2-3.

The real question is do you use your newly acquired draft capitol do jump up to guys you want or just reload the deck in the depth of the team.

Pitts.
BPA whoever that is and whatever position they play.
My understanding is it's a deep corner draft. Question is, if we don't got QB in round 1, do we need to go corner? Other positions aren't as strong this year so it seems to me like you go BPA then corner in round 2. Maybe parlay our later picks to move our 2nd to end of round 1 to get one of the top corners

What QB is left on the board? I personally think Lawrence, Fields, Wilson, Lance and Jones will be gone. If thats the case I'm picking the best available O available. If we lose Verrett i'm probably going corner.

If 5 QBs go before 12 then we have a nice load of players that will fall to us.

We have a QB already. It's not like we're hard up for one.

With so many teams starting over the proposed cap, lots of players will be available on 1 yr deals. Preston Smith is one of those. CBs with experience can also be had in same scenario. Trading a pick for a Mariota or Derek Carr type QB to save money while trading away Jimmy G makes the most sense. Signing Mariota would save around $15 million. Trading and restructuring Derek Carr could save around $10 million to be used to sign or extend players. Lots of possibilities once league yr starts. As long as Kirk cousins isn't a 49er I will br happy. OL should be priority. Trent Williams is a great player but $20 million/ yr may be a bit too rich. Darrisaw, Vera-Tucker, or another tackle either after being released or drafted would be best fit. One trade down to acquire an additional 2nd or 3rd rd pick will help fill holes. Lots of depth in this draft at positions that 49ers need to fill.

We need a HOF punter!
Trade back with the Pats to 15 so they can get Trey Lance, then we pick up Micah Parsons and their 2nd round pick if they're hard up enough to give it up. Maybe have to give them back a 4th. I don't know.
