Trading for pick 2

Saleh values alot of the players on our defense.

Fred Warner + 1.12 For 1.02

Imagine the cap savings moving Jimmy for a pick and moving Fred right before he gets a mega deal.

I think this is the class to get your Franchise Qb. We also have Demeco to find the next star mlb.

Just a thought? What y'all think?

Give up arguably the best linebacker for an unproven rookie at the position with the highest bust potential? Hard pass. Even for a proven quantity like Watson, this makes me cringe.

Why is Warner so untouchable? Give me a proven QB or proven LB? isn't this obvious?

But that is the point. Warner is a proven LB, and a vital cog in the D. And you want to trade him for a draft pick. The QB is not a proven QB. Check how many high pick qb's bust. I don't mind using draft picks to move up and down the draft board but to trade a proven winner for a lottery ticket is not bright.

Your going about this thought process like Zach Wilson's come around every year.. if we miss on this draft class we are screwed.. we will constantly be over paying middling qbs...

Don't give up a lb we have to pay 15-20 mil per year... I'm sure there will be another elite qb prospect right around the curve... Wrong

Say we pick 20 or 25 next year...

You have to use logic to access your best opportunity to secure the bag... Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson are the bag.

Zach Wilson does come out every year. Every year there are qb's built up as being can't miss options. And they miss. There is always another elite qb prospect around the corner. That doesn't make them elite qb's though.

I wonder if the niners can trade back if another team takes Dee Ford and b***hburg off of their hands. How would that impact the salary cap?

We'd probably have to give picks away to trade those guys honestly.
Playing against a bunch of joke teams doesn't convince me he is the next Mahomes or Watson.

I mean you can say that about any QB right?

Typically every year there are QBs available who turn into quality starters.

Wilson has questions about him but he also has some really terrific things on tape and it will be up to the evaluators to figure out if his strengths translate to the NFL and whether his weaknesses can be minimized or hidden.

To me the biggest thing about what makes a guy great vs mediocre or a flat out bust is their drive, work ethic and love of the game. That's why you see a guy like Brady have hte career that he had with the talent that he had. The man works his ass off and he LOVES this game. If there is an advantage he'll try to find it(insert your cheating joke here)

I don't know if Wilson has that level of passion but I've heard he's put in work so I'm hoping if he's our pick that's more of his personality vs hearing blurbs about him being entitled.

Wilson had himself a HELL of a season though and the tape matched the numbers. If we draft him I believe the background stuff checked out for Kyle and the two of them working together would be electric IMO.

But it's also possible we don't feel any of these guys outside of Lawrence(Jags aren't trading that pick) aren't worth moving up for so either we sit pat and see how it shakes out at the top or we try to ride it out with Jimmy for at least another season and look to upgrade the roster around him using the picks and then maybe make a run at another QB next year if Jimmy struggles or draft one in round 2+ to groom as the eventual starter.
Well, if Saleh Is fine with Darnold and we know he loves Warner......offers us 2 for him and 12. How do we not consider it if Kyle loves Wilson etc?
He is very good and may turn out to be excellent in the NFL. He isn't a generational talent. Next year there will be a couple of guys just as good if not better.

You don't move a known commodity for an unknown. Not when you want to win games. If we like Wilson then we're better off just sending enough draft picks(unknowns) for Wilson(another unknown)

I know, but I'm just saying that may work since Saleh could have a hardon for Warner. And the argument is much easier to finda good LB than a Qb etc. obviously risky etc, but no guarantees in this business.

Warner and #12 wouldn't get it done.. LBers, no matter how good, just don't have that kind of value to teams right now.

If you offered Warner on the market right now we could possibly get a late first rounder for him. Nobody would give up a top 10 pick, which is the value you would need plus the #12 to move up to #2.

On defense the only players that would carry that kind of value for a team would be pass rushers. Nick Bosa, coming off an ACL isn't worth #2 either. So it would have to be #12 and Bosa to get it done, and then it's unlikely the person you draft at #2 ends up as good as Bosa.

So what's the point?

This. Please stop suggesting we move a proven all-pro player for a draft prospect. The 49ers did something similar last year with Defo. Kinlaw could turn into a great player, but as of today, I'm sorry, but it did not work.

If you want to discuss moving an all-pro LB like Fred Warner for a proven QB like Deshaun Watson, that's an entirely different conversation.

Yes, although salary cap space was a factor with Buckner.
